Audio Tracks and Monitoring

I am using the free jjos 3.08 with my MPC1000. I am trying to work with the audio tracks feature. Is it possible to monitor my "record in" before I hit record or overdub? I am trying to rehearse a part before recording and am finding this a little challenging trying to hear my bass guitar while the beat is going. If it's not possible in the free version is it an option in OS1 or OS2 or XL? Haven't seen it listed anywhere.

If it's not possible in any OS is there some routing method that might work?

Usually you can do that with the input thru function but I dunno if it's implemented in 3.08. At least you should get OS1.
