i want to buy an mpc1000 from someone online, he send me pictures and stuff and it looks in great condition, the thing is the warranty is expired, am i taking a big risk buying it?

anytime you buy anything there is a risk. Theres no way for anyone here to really determine if its a good machine or not. Make sure you ask the seller all your questions before sending payment.

ok but, is the failure rate of an mpc high or are they really well built?

The major malfunction of a MPC is mainly the pads. Ask the seller if the MPC is the newer or older model. The older model came with the old pad that eventually will fail. If it is you can always talk him down lower.
