2KXL pads now shorting out after solder

Hi all,
I recently replaced my jog wheel in my 2000XL by soldering in a new one. Now when I play my "pre-fix" beats this damn thing shorts out when i play the pads. at first some of the sounds would get distorted. now when i hit a pad or two while a beat is playing it silences completely or some sounds silence or sounds seem to swap pads. WTF? any help.. would help. THANKS!

could i try to unsolder it and redo it? is that even worth a shot?i dont know what i did wrong. I unsoldered it with that vacuum gun thing and hardly touched the iron to the board so as not to over heat it. and the solders look self contained. ahh.. im freaking out. thanks

might want to get a solder sucker and try again. Go back and check your connection. Smell for any blown parts

be sure you didn't flow solder points together on accident.

also check the board for 'spilled' solder which may have crossed points elsewhere.

Sounds pretty funky, caus ethe jog should not effect the pads, unless there was some kind of short or IC issue

If all else fails, I'll buy it from ya.

I need another donor for testing some new screens I got in, and I'm not testing them in the special edition.

Ok, I'll retry. but I feel dumb as I suppose I should have mentioned that I think something fell on my MP that caused the jog wheel to break in the first place. If something had fallen on it, would that cause the pads to act like this? or is it likely a soldering issue? thanks again all..

If something fell on it, take the entire circuit board out, the one the jog is on, and check for cracks in the circuitboard, and cracked solder joints on everything. If the board is cracked, jumper everything across the cracks point to point down the circuit paths with wire, and reflow any any cracked solder joints. Thatd get you going again
