JJ support email from 4 days ago:
Your question was sent to the programmer.
However, now, since a programmer is busy, he does not know when a reply is obtained.

Seems like the JJ programmer is busy with the sequencer, and has been.

There's a lot of work that has already went into the sequencer. When I look at it I think about how much could've been improved on OS-XL.

The question is then, was it worth it?

Will you be buying JJ-Sequencer? Is it valuable to you? Are you excited about its release? Or did JJ make a mistake and waste time/energy on a tool no one will use?

The potential is there and he may get it to work seamlessly with the MPC...I just did a new post in the forums to really answer this question. Any other questions I will gladly replie in there.

i still maintain that this JJ sequencer is just something for JJ to put on his resume & also to learn some PC coding at the same time in order to be able to get a real programming gig in the future. he knows he's not going to be able to support himself financially with the JJ OS anymore & that he'll have to get a regular 9-5 job soon. having some completed software out there will look good to a potential employer.

...because otherwise this sequencer makes NO sense & is a complete waste of time. there's nothing in here that cubase, logic, pro-tools, reaper, & a million other smaller shareware & freeware tools don't already do a million times better & with a ton more features.

i truly wish him well on the job hunt, but i just wish that this sequencer wasn't distracting him so completely from improving the JJ OS. since he's started work on this sequencer things have ground to a halt for the MPC. hell, even Nym left! :(

this is basically going to be a identical copy of JJ OS 2 XL (or better) for the PC.

I wont be buying it. Most of us have paid a lot of money upgrading from from OS to OS and in my oinion OS 1 was great, OS2 got better and OS2xl should have been the best one of all and in many ways it is but is still incomplete. We've all followed JJ through all the updates, giving him feed back, finding bugs and reporting them, etc., we've done all this just to have a chance at getting the best OS possible for our MPCs so that we can rely less on computers and now that we are so close with OS2xl JJ is like, "You've spent all this time and money and now you have the latest and greatest OS, yeah it has a lot of bugs, features that don't work right and is the most unstable of all OS but that's all I'm giving you, if you want a way around all of this buy my new software sequencer". That's like a slap in the face. Your telling me we've come all this way improving the OS just to go back to a software program, I thought that's what we we all trying to get away from?

There are a lot of software sequencers out already that are jammed packed with features, people already have these; JJ is the only one making OS' for MPCs, why would he want to give that up? Like others said on previous posts it's like it's easier to program software so he rather do that, he got lazy or he's trying to add some software programing to his resume, either way he's leaving us hanging with our hardware OS and I can't support that. I'd rather he just fix the bugs that OS2xl has and if he wants he can add more features that we're requesting in a new OS3 but at least finish what you've started and keep moving towards the "prefect OS", but nothing is perfect so atleast the most complete, bug free and stable OS.

For those that are going to get the software sequencer, just think about it...his latest and greates OS was the most incomplete, bug ridden, unstable OS so far, sure it has a lot of extra features that I enjoy myself but it is far from being finished and that's the type of product you'd be supporting. For me, I just can't back that up. It's similar to the BS that AKAI is pulling with the pad upgrade, they sold MPC's with deffective pads and now they are charging people an arm and a leg to get the pads they paid for and should have had in the first place. My pads were going out so I had to get them, I had no choice but I can live without JJ's software sequencer. We kinda expect that from AKAI but not from JJ, not after all the great work he has done and the way he has always listened to his customers in the past, it's too bad...

I most likely wont be buying it.
I've yet to see a reason for having it, or why it would be "cool".
Seems tgo me to be a grand distraction from his MPC OS's... :?

B.A. I truly feel your pain because, I felt the same way when dealing with Akai when I had a MPC 1200.So If you really want to point the finger, you should point it at Akai and not JJ.

Remember JJ worked for Akai before he went rouge. Why did he do it? I feel he had compassion like us for the MPC and its users and got feed up with the "take no risk policy". Akai thinks:Keep it super simple, because if the program is to hard to use, then we will get more phone calls, complaints, ideas and bugs inside the program.

I, somewhat gave up on Akai, five years ago, when i told them about the track mute feature to make a 1/16 beat, (the 4X4 sequencer in the request forum) simply put it seemed like they were no longer interested in user ideas.

Notice the amount of posts Akai gets on its forum, none ,Why? It becomes bad Public Relations, when people have all these ideas, that cannot be impleamented into the MPC. This is a good reason to not even have a forum.

Akai could not figure it out, but JJ did, and he did it before all of us including Akai. You have to merge the hardware with the software to please everyone.

Do you see Akai making software of a virtual MPC,Nope.I see JJ attepting it.
Do you see Akai with feature request ,Nope. But somehow jj and his two man team is getting all this slack, that the big corporation Akai should of handled.

People must understand JJ is our only chance to get the MPC to the point where we all believe on this forum;the MPC as the end-all-be-all;and it can't do it as a non software-stand anlone. Software should be optional, and JJ did just that.

Seriously, people need to understand JJ could be upset because evey one is ganging up on him, and no one on this forum is willing to code for dang near free.

Peeps could really be more supportive, before JJ pulls an Akai and ignors its users as much as possible.

P.S. Keep up the good work JJ. You are the MPC savior.

The JJ Sequencer will be the best software for the MPC and PC.

This is a unfair question, because no on buys a beta and no one sell a beta.
This question is like asking does any one want to but Fl studio, in a MPC forum.

If you re-phrase the question,to something like this, will anyone want to buy a near seamless software for your MPC, the outcome may be better.

 Fail...
MPC 1200's don't exist. I think it's now time that you stop making up stories...

Fanaticism.

Strange how so many people blindly worship their music tools.

If the MPC cannot be bent to do what people want, the answer is not to try and use the PC for the extra functions just so you can keep using your "MPC". That's a weak fix. The real answer is to develop something new from scratch based around the PC, that does everything the MPC can and better.

There are 2 worlds right now, the dedicated hardware route like the MPC, and the virtual software like the PC. The PC software is far more powerful in terms of how much it can do, but the dedicated hardware is more solid and can be used as a physical instrument in a way that Windows apps can't.

JJ seems to have made the decision for MPC users to move to the PC. From a programmer's perspective, that's obvious. PC software is much easier to make incredibly powerful. But from an artist's perspective, music is not fun to program within the PC paradigm, it's better to play.

Even if JJ-Sequencer was seamlessly controlled by the MPC through USB/MIDI, all that was done is the MPC resorted to PC controller. What's the point? There's already Maschine, MPD, APC, etc. The whole advantage of the MPC is that it's solid, self-contained, dedicated, and limited.

I want the MPC optimized for the fastest possible workflow. I don't need millions of functions like a personal computer can give. I have a PC for that, but it is not an instrument. The MPC should be more instrument, less work. There should be more macros, shortcuts, automation.

All we need is bugs fixed, and basic features perfected. You don't need complex functions to make music, and if you do, there's plenty of software already available. It's amazing how none of the audio tool makers seem to understand this. They're all freaking out and running towards PC.
