Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000
By ReuBen KinKade Mon Oct 05, 2009 9:08 pm
Yes Sir - Done it is ! I Love the 4000 like everybody else and wish it could be emended or if AKAI would make a real upgrade to the 4000. It's not likely though. At this point, I just wish there was a program that could convert MPC .ALL Sequence Files into other formats so as to not be so dependent on the 4000 to load my huge song library - Reub.

just out of curiosity, how much would you all pay for an upgrade?

500.00, 600.00, or better?

why would they make the MPC4000, supposedly better than their so called FLAG SHIP?
it wouldn't be profitable..... money talks......

i'd say offer $700 to $800 for upgrades and they may do it...
personally, i'd like to see AKAI just make a software version of their sequencer.
i prefer Kontact & Battery as my main samplers... the only thing i use my MPC for
is sequencing.

Who knows they are already into controller for software it may be a matter of
time though no way they can compete with other DAWs without audio tracks and pro level effects. If they did it may be the death of hardware.

The reason why the 4000 is better is because it was made by Akai and not Nukai. As for the upgrade, why don't we petition mansell-labs to work on an operating system for the 4000 like they did for the 3000.

If anyone from Akai is watching this, they are probably laughing !!! There's nothing wrong with dreaming, but ........ Come on guys !!! Rule number one (to bring back an old cliche): "If it don't make dollars, it don't make sense". If anything is going to become of an "Upgrade", it's only going to be as a direct result of hard-core business wrangling. I know we've all dreamed of that great update, but....... Akai would rather make a whole new machine, like an MPC 6000, with all of the features we've been crazy about in the MPC 4000 along with all of the features we've complained that needed fixing or emending over the past few years. They MIGHT make a new machine, if the count was right, but an upgrade to the 4000 is truly D.O.A. unless someone takes over at Akai and has a nostalgic and sympathetic heart toward all of us 'poor, poor' 4000 owners ! Seriously though, we'd be better off petitioning them for a hotter version of the 4000 and even still, they'd have to really believe that there is a significant market share that will 'latch on'. Openlabs with their DBeat and quite a few other companies out there doing the 'MPC thing', it's only a matter of time before someone creates the software version of Akai's hardware sequencers or comes so close that the MPC Brand goes the way of Kurzweil - Reub

ha ha... they aren't even going to update their latest model (5000), why would they update the update the 4000?

Honestly ppl start makin music and stop bitchin about MPCs. Maybe that's me but I feel 4k has everything I need. Much bitching about 5K now, but with the OS 2.0 what can u expect more? I think 5K and 4K are machines on its own and both are **** dope.
I just don't understand why 5K has 16 bits instead of 24.

i think the reason we aren't getting any updates for the MPC5000 is that
everyone ran akai away with the complaints.
dont get me wrong... people complain in every FORUM, but not like this one IMO.

nah that is not the reason. They sold what they intend to sell and any new os or functions will arrive in a newer mpc unit. An update issue is dead and over.
