Keep the Mpc200xl or upgrade to the mpc 1000???

Whats up people. I am struggling with a decision and I would like to get the feed back of those who know the real deal so to speak. Do I keep my baby or upgrade to a newer version?

I currently have a stock mpc200xl with the exception of a flash drive (I still have the zip drive) Everything works fine but one of my pads seems to be dying, I would like to have 8outs and some effects as well. I now I can do effects thru programs like cubase or pro tools etc, but i like to do everything in the mpc....

So please answer this for me:
what are the pros and cons of the 1000 vs 2000xl
what are the fundamental differences between the two
and are the differences bewtween the two so drastic that it make that nuch of a difference?

If you don't mind the smaller pads, the 1000 is whats up. Personally, because of the size of my hands and non-precision of pad strikes, the smaller 1000 pads just aren't for me.
Function wise the 1000 is great but the 2k (I don't have the XL) is a better fit for me because of the size. All I use it for is sequencing really so the extra stuff isn't essential, as I use a Fantom for my sound generation (minus drums).
This is just my opinion though, usually what people spend their money on they will vouch for because they have developed a biased view.

The obvious 'upgrade' to the xl is the 2500. That's the switch I made, and yeah I'm biased, but the 1000 was just too fiddly to use for me. The 2500 on the other hand has a very similar feel to the xl but enhances almost every other feature.

The 1000 and 2500 have nearly identical features with the JJ OS, so it's all down to how much you value the feel of the machine...

Oh yeah no doubt the 2500 is what's up, I didn't mention it because I didn't think it was an option. If you can get the 2500 make that move, only weakness is build quality in comparison to the XL (IMO).

im not sure but does the 2500 have NEXT SEQ feature on it? i have an XL and i love that feature. however, it would be nice to have 128mb than 32. i bet there alot of things on the 2500 that are better... usb! however i love the XL too much. if i were to upgrade from XL (which might be soon if my screen keeps going) it would be to a 4000 or a newer XL.

Yea the NEXT SEQ button is there but I never used the feature to see if it is different from the XL. JJ OS adds NEXT SEQ to the 1000 too (if anyone cares haha).

The MPC 2000XL is a classic machine and the most popular with producers in the business. But the MPC 1000 is far more powerful in terms of functionality and features. Keep the MPC2000XL if you could.
