serious sound problem

I noticed very disturbing problem with my MPC - some samples have iritating 'metalic' sound (kind of lo-fi) - it happened suddenly, and I dont use any effect on them. Strange thing is that lots of sounds are correct but some of them (for example tom-tom, base drums samples) changed their sound recently.

Can it be any damage of MPC? Can it be any software damage?

Did you have similar problems anytime? I dont have any idea how to fix it...

what are you moitoring thru?

when loading samples I use 'preview' by hitting 'start' and listen the sound, but sounds are really ugly then (sounds so lo-fi, with metalic sustain or something), but when I upload it and assign to a pad it sounds good. Any idea why is that?

my only guess is you are distorting your monitors.The preview sounds are at max volume level
and by default when you play the sample on a pad it is 70%(would say velocity but that goes to 127 and the mpc does not) turn down your speakers......are you running thru some kind of preamp or compressor? post your signal chain

yea maybe try turning your speakers down a bit or try turning the volume of the sample down a bit. when you record samples from vinyl, turn your volume down a bit, so that it wont distort the sound, thus giving it the "metallic" sound. just be sure at all times that the levels of everything your using are adjusted. like with me, i have everything set at about 50% (Mixer and speakers) volume. and then the samples are set depending on w/e they need to be at to sound good. it really just depends on the quality of your equipment. just adjust the levels accordingly.

I tried to reduce the sound level to -6dB and -12 dB, and nothing changes. Its strange for me, and i'm little bit scared of my MPC, if its work good

try going direct to monitor no mixer just to see if that is your problem

on the metalic sounding sounds... check to see if somehow the resonance is turned up.
