That digital lag! (MPC2500 vs MPC4000)

You know how digital equipment tends to have that lag and "bugyness" to it?
Would I be correct in thinking that the difference exists between the MPC4000 and the lower models?
For some reason I tend to think the MPC2500 might be more solid (software-wise) thank the 4k or 5k.
Am I correct in my assumption?

i have never noticed any digital lag with any of my equipment, just drop outs(caused by cheap cable), and sometimes i have to switch between analog/digital about 5 times to sync it..

Do you find your MPCs to be slightly glitchy at times? Or do they always perform well while sequencing?
I find the 4k to not sequence well when recording, for example a note is recorded but fails to play the note as recorded, though when auditioned individually (without playing sequence) it plays perfectly.

and nice setup, does the fantom offer good piano/acoustic sounds?

my xl is pretty solid as far as sequencing and recording + midi, but i never did the amount of crazy shlt i do with my 2500/jjos1. the 2500 i have noticed to be sluggish, and glitchy coz i'm really fast on it, but doesn't bother me to much. it did skip up in song mode the other day which was a first for me..

it has very good to excellent piano sounds, and good acoustic sounds.. i dislike the sounds on it to be honest, but i can still work magic with it! the file system SUCKS compared to the mpc, i think i need the memory upgrade.. sequencer is dope though!

Ever compared the old iPods to the new ones?
Or digital cable to normal old school TV?
Or new mobile phones as apposed to the old ones?

Big difference in how they perform, with regards to the time it takes to move your way around menus/channels, etc.

Yeah, I wasn't clear on what you meant by lag, but I understand what you are saying now

I've got an 80GB iPod but soon want to get me a little Shuffle one as its more portable, suitable for gym, etc.

An Ipod does nothing to enhance my life at all, lol.
Neither does a cell phone, texting, sexting device, lol.

I have a 120gb Zune, I'm fine with that.

No never experienced this digital lag thing though.

Your talking about how responsive the GUI is when moving to different screens or adjusting something. The speed of the processor, memory, and graphic screen redraw can affect this. The rest is how the OS is programed. I do not notice this on any MPC other than the 5k. The 5k OS1 was not so bad but got horrible in OS2. This shows how much it has to do with how the OS is programed.

What OS are you running with your 4k? I never had this with the last OS other than when moving through the file menu sometimes. There is also a file menu glitch that you will have to exit out and go back to get the right menu back. I think this is only when reading files from CD. Other than that it seemed pretty snappy.

You must have missed the thread where I said I've never ever had a
cell phone/mobile texting device.

I don't have anything Mac/Apple in my crib (that I know of).
