Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi,

Can anybody tell me how to assign different midi sounds to the mpc500.

I also need to know how to sync my midi keyboard and, finally, how to save all the settings once I've created a piece using midi.

Advice appreciated

Thanks for posting Lampdog.

I've got the manuals but I guess I'm a bit of a slow learner.

I managed to rig up the midi set up but when I recordrd:

I couldn't control assigning different sounds
I had no click track for recording,
I wasn't sync-ed (to the midi clock)
and I couldn't work out how to save the midi info.

You know ......... complete beginner.

Any other tips would be appreciated.

Hi,

I'm using the mpc 500 with a Roland GW7..

I know this is basic stuff but a few lines from someone out there could no doubt save me weeks of frustration.

Cheers :D :?

Hey arcchile,

Are you trying to use midi notes as triggers for samples in your DAW?
MIDI itself has no sound, its merely data being sent to or from another device to trigger a sound, or another perticular action (controlling effects, patterns, muting tracks, triggering clips/scenes [Ableton Live] etc etc)

Is that the problem? or is it more to do with the syncing and recording of both devices? From looking at the kit you are using, are you trying to use the drum kits from the GW7 on your MPC? If so im afraid I have no idea how to do this. But if it is software related, eg triggering stuff. Ill do my best to help.
