1000xl ???

I know no one wants to hear about this after already dropping the dough for a 1000. But is Akai going to fix the 1000's shortcomings thru solely the OS or is there a large potential for a 1000xl? Of course, Akai will not admit to such plans b/c that will stall sales on the current 1000. I'm not trying to put a bug in anyone's ear, I just wanted to pose the question.

- we see no sign of a 1000xl in the pipeline.
- depends what you mean by "shortcomings"... one member posted a reply from Akai that says we must not expect e.g. timestretch on board, no more major features will be added. Bugfixes will come, and I still hold out some hope for an easier way of changing the time of an event in Step Edit...

1000xl is BS! I spoke to Tech support and there are no plans for this build.

what would a 1000xl accomplish? It would cost $$$ to start a whole new product. The 2000xl happened because the changes that needed to happen to the 2000 HAD to be done in hardware. ALL changes for the 1000 could be done in software...no bug fixes or feature requests require new hardware. That's it. plain & simple. You COULD NOT update the OS in the 2000. It was physically impossible to do a mass update. That's not true for the 2000xl, 4000, or the 1000 (we've already seen 5 updates in the last 8 months). It's been 6 years...ever seen or heard of a 4000xl yet? That thing was strewn with bugs when first released.

like the 2000 though the lack of the flip up screen drove my neck crazy. If they were going to make a 1000xl I would ask for the damn flip up screen.

bugs will be fixed thru the OS

I'm talking about major things like: sample reverse, timestretch, delay fx, flip up screen. I don't think a 1000xl is necessary at all. I am simply not a techie enough to understand what be fixed with software upgrades and what can't. According to JKsuperstar, my big issues can all be resolved in the software except for the flip up screen.
