Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hey guys,

i hope someone can help me through this.

I`m tryin to hook my mpc with virtual instruments on my computer (PC). I see people using the mpc with hardware-soundmodules. Because i didn`t want to spent money on hardware again i thought this must work with vstis and the midi clock in my mpc.

Ok, now i`ve linked the mpc to my pc using midi cables. So far so good. Now i can play sounds using the pads on the mpc and record the midi data. Let´s say i recorded a bass-line and now want to add strings. But if i switch the instrument to strings the mpc plays the midi data from the bassline with the string-sounds. Do I have to set up different midi channels or how do I record different midi data using the same vsti??

Kind regards;)

you need to setup a different midi channel for each instrument in the software host you are using.
Then on the MPC assign the midi channel of the track you want to sequence.

MIDI CH1 - STRINGS - Track 1
MIDI CH2 - BASS - Track 2
MIDI CH10 - DRUMS - Track 3

OKAY thx,

I figured it out. It was a software-related problem. With Reason it is no deal to choose different midi channels. It gets a bit sticky if you use FL Studio.
