I tried plugging in an external drive into my mpc for the first time. When I turned it on, the screen went dark, with boxes kinda fading and all the red lights are frozen on. FACK!!!! WHAT DID I DO??????

I have projects coming up and I can't have killed it.

What did I do?

Oh ok. Thats good!

So was it an mpc3000?

And , who repaired it and how? Did he give you any insight on this?

Sorry, it's an mpc3000.

Repair man said it hat to do with plugging a non scsi drive in. It messed up the scsi board. The receipt says "scsi N25" but I googled it and nothing came up. I guess I could have asked for more insight but I was stressed and just wanted it working.

Anyway Bruce Forat fixed it in an hour and now I'm up and running. Nice guy.

Is this easy for someone to replace himself?

If you can desolder and solder the component back in, it's pretty simple.

The part you need is: NTE15023E.

Some people replace the surface mount fuse with a glass one:
