^^^^ that mpc is cool, having your turntable set up on an angle like that will f*** up your records though because you can't set up the weight on your tonearm properly

co-sign.

does that turntable even play without sounding wobbly?? it has to be on a flat surface. that goes for ANY turntable.

Doesn't sound wobbly, but I can lift it up a bit so it isn't slanted so much. Its chillin on one of those quick lok stands.

I peep this thread as a lurker probably once a day. I love viewing how people put their labs/studios together. Real inspiring. Here is my recent setup. Just got a brand new desk..my room is very small..but i make it work.

Great looking setup! what do you think of that Yamaha mixer? I'm contemplating one myself to replace my old mixer I just sold.

Thanks man...Ive had that yamaha mg mixer for almost a year..what i love about it is compression controls on the first 6 channels which is something i think u find on bigger more expensive boards but for the money i dont think there was anything in its class touching it in terms of sound quality and features. Its got some nice onboard eq controls as well.

it's not that it'll sound wobbly really, just the tone arm is constantly going to want to fall forcing the needle to push against the outside wall of the grooves in your records all the time. That'll wear down your records way quick. You might not notice it right away but after a while you'll start to notice your records not sounding as good as they used to (high frequency loss and noise).

I never met a sound module I completely liked before the Mo' Phatt. Even Preem keeps one around.

Word. I just bought one on ebay for $150, should be here monday, I can't wait to try this thing out!!!

yeah I actually had one of those before I got my Mackie VLZ3 1642. I liked it but it sounded a little thin to me.
Anyone coming from a Behringer though? will LOVE it.. But the Mackie sound better to me. The compression on the first 6 channels is a bad ass feature tho. It almost kept me from returning it.. BUT its easy to purchase and rack a compressor, versus the heart of my audio inputs not sounding "big" enough to me, or lacking bass.

It felt/sounded almost as if every channel of the yamaha had a 60hz cutoff or something.
thats not a great description.. but no different than its known that behringers sound Bright.. to me yamaha's sound thin.
at the same time I have a yamaha sampler that sounds similar on the low end. and Motifs sound like that to me also.
Maybes its a yamaha thing.
Ill see if I can dig up an old pic of my setup when I had the yamaha, and A/B it to my current.

EDIT: here are some old pics I dug up.. when my setup was in its less fortunate days.
First shot is the Yamaha mg166cx b4 I returned it..
2nd is my rack(I actually built that top wood rack myself, and still have it, buy it from me, lol)
3rd shot is the whole setup on my old desk. (I still have that too and you can have it CHEAP if you come get it)
the last shot is of the mackie mixer and the yamaha back in the box.. I couldnt decide so I got both. lol. I wound up taking them both back and upgraded to the Mackie 1642 VLZ3

Oh they're all thumbnails.. too save page space since they are all old shots. so click to big up.

And lastly.. my current setup again, so you dont have to go back a few pages
