Motif es8 to MPC2500 (midi...please help!!!)

Dearest Masters of the MPC,

First, let me preface by saying that I am not worthy. I've read my manuals and have searched the boards exhaustively. I want to record MIDI data from my motif to my MPC 2500, then play it back using the sounds in the motif. Please help me....I am retarded.

You've read your manual and you cant figure out the 'Midi handshake'?

You've searched the boards and still cant understand basic Midi?

The information is there, the problem could actually be you.

Start at 'Getting Started'.

I have the midi wires hooked up, and the 1/4" out from the motif to the speakers, but no sound. I turned local control off on my motif. I understand basic midi concepts, I just can't seem to get sound to come out. The problem is me, I said that...I don't know how to get my shit to work. You're comment wasn't helpful. Please help out instead of being a dick.
