Ableton Live roll call!!!!

That's what I'm saying I haven't seen. I'd like to see the simple/stereotypical "I'm gonna chop this sample up and make a beat in 5 minutes cause that's how I do ayeday all day" hip-hop Live video. Lamont's video is cool, and I didn't consider it cause he's using it to record his loops and effects I believe. How can this lack of Live hip-hop video examples be? Spaz's vids seem cool, but so far the ones I saw he's used it rewired to Reason and another he played a recreated 9th beat.

that video showed what i been seeing, a whole lot of looping. What if i didnt want it to loop? No one shows how to set those warp markers for chopping. Good video tho.

How to use Ableton live like an mpc. How to chop the sample manually, piece by piece (not timestretchin with warping). How to load that to the drum rack. How to pitch shift those samples and place them on the drum rack. Thats all.

I just realized that you can't really follow warping tutorials of versions past if you're on version 8. They drastically changed the way it works.

This kid is annoying but has an interesting way of chopping. I haven't tried it yet, but you could do this easily without messing with warp markers. lol @2:46

i sold my mpc 1000 couple months ago and got Live.

100000% happy with that.

Just a quick question :

When i load up the drum rack and i use my mpd to trigger a sample, How do i get the sample to play until its finished , as opposed to having to hold it for the length of the sample. Do i have to go thru every pad and turn the release up , or is there another option ? Up until now i have just been toyin with ableton, but i really want to get more acquainted with it. Thanx in advance !

I started using live on version 4 lite in 2005 then got full version 5 in 2006 upgraded to version 8 6 months ago and threw pro tools out the window


If you have at least version 7, then you have "drum racks" under the instrument tab drage any drum sample or sound onto one of the "pads" 16 visible at once just like mpc pads.. each pad also automatically has it's own separate audio track that you can fold/ unfold from a main drum rack bussed track so your like tracking out as you go. paired with ya mpc and midi or an mpk or mpd and it'd nutz


to re arrange break/ vbeat loops etd right click on a beat loop and choose "slice to new midi track" choose 1/16 on most of em
a new drum rack will be made and the beat sliced into 1/16 note slices and you can rearrange, delete/ duplicate parts to totally change up the beat.

then go into the groove pool and you have swing/groove templates from mpc sp 1200 etc that can that shuffle groove human feel or old skool hiphop style

click on it choose "slice to new midi track" select where ya want the chops/slices usally 1/16

a new drum rack is automatically created with the slices on it

that slices it up and you can rearrange it delete parts etc etc

you can usa ya mpc to control the visible drum rack pads to just make a mpc program with the pads mapped to the same notes
