I want to know which brand of card to buy on a regular camera store for the mpc. I herd that its cheaper to go that route. One big question in my mind is "What is the difference between the type 1 and type2 flash cards, and does the mp use eighther or? Thanks...

Type I and Type II
The only difference between the two types is that the Type II devices are 5 mm thick while Type I devices are 3.3 mm thick.[14] The vast majority of all Type II devices are Microdrives and other miniature hard drives. Flash based Type II devices are rare but a few examples do exist. Compact Flash — Secure Digital adapters usually are Type II.[15][16] Even the largest capacity cards commonly available are Type I cards. Most card readers will read both formats, with the exception of some early CF based cameras or poorer quality USB card readers where the slot is too small. Various Manufacturers of 4GB Compact Flash cards such as Sandisk, Toshiba, Alcotek and Hynix have developed devices that support mainly type I slots. Some of the latest DSLRs have also dropped Type II support.

just wanted to bump this thread since it was helpful for me... i went with this on ebay after searching for the cheapest possible deal:
http://cgi.ebay.com/256MB-PC133-144pin- ... 286.c0.m14
someone posted an ebay auction they used that was originally the same price i believe but now it's 20 bucks, this is 11.11 wiht free shipping and it's in the USA.
obviously the auction is ended but they should have plenty in stock. i JUST bought it so i'll have to let everyone know if it worked out when i get it, but i'm pretty confident it will. if not, i can send it back and get like 8 bucks back so not really a big deal. hope this helps

hey
i have a SANDISK ULTRA II 2 go C.F
loading and saving is as fast as the default akai CF card
but browsing folders, especially ones with a lot of files (1700 samples), is daaamn slow.
on the akai CF card : 8 seconds to display the content of the folder
on the SANDISK card : 18 seconds to do the same thing
otherwise everything works.
card was formatted with the MPC
reading the card on my mac is fast
anybody knows what's going on ?
using JJ os Free

^ Totally. Excellent CF cards. I have 2 of these 8GB cards and they are priced at around £12/13 on the websites I've priced checked on in the UK. Means I never have to worry about recording too many samples. That coupled with MPC maid has made creating vast amounts of programs with my extensive sample library really simple and possible.

I got the Samsung 256mb SODIMM PC133 CL2 chip and when I turned on the MPC it says 128MB installed, what's good ? I also have the Akai 128 chip so I'm wondering if it'd be best to just put that one back in if I'm gonna get the same results .

Hello,
I'm about to buy this RAM:
http://www.amazon.fr/Kingston-ValueRAM- ... 350&sr=8-2
Does it look correct?
Description:
Kingston ValueRAM - 256 Mo - SO DIMM 144 broches (pins) - SDRAM - 133 MHz / PC133 - CL3 - 3.3 V - NON ECC
I wonder what "NON ECC" means?
thanks
