MPC doesnt startup!? help please!!

I've just installed the update akai OS 2.24 i think. I installed it then turned it off like it said. Then i tried turning it on holding down erase like the manual stated but it doesnt go past the screen, "mpc 2500 - 128mb installed". Anybody else had this?

I have tried holding window down but it comes up with WRONG CARD error.

sounds like you fried the hyphadophanater module. Or it could just need some Internal Memory Lubricant on the RAM bearings. J/K

Holding down erase at startup just restores the factory settings. Also the most recent update for the 2500 is 1.24 not 2.24... typo?



you aint messed with anything else right? and it was working fine before the update?

Honestly sounds like the update may have not loaded properly.
Or its getting stuck while trying to detect something internally.
After loading the update you do not HAVE TO hold down ANYTHING. like I said that just resets everything to factory.

But NOT holding down erase during startup and after a OS install would just leave your previous settings intact (for instance.. the master output volume being set to -6DB by you previously would remain the same... rather than changing to the -12DB default setting after resetting everything to factory by holding erase at startup)

Also do you have a HD in your mpc or CD Drive? i would remove either and or both and try booting up..
it may be getting stuck trying to scan the drive(s).
actually I would remove the ram, the HD AND the CD drive if you have ANY of them, then bootup and DONT hold anything down.

It shouldn't matter, but did you wait 30 second before restarting the mpc AFTER loading the OS?

I was recently swapping parts between two 2500's and was repeatedly trying different OS's on each, from the Akai OS to 3 different JJ OS's and just load em up fast, and power on and off, with no problem. and Im talking A LOT of OS loads man.

When you loaded the OS, did you actually see the progress on the screen complete before it told you to reboot?

Yeah i saw the progress till it said reboot. I followed out all the correct procedres

Im gonna try take th ram out as that is the only extra i have.

Just tried to start it up without the RAM and it still doesnt get past the screen, this time with 16mb on it ofcourse

Are you using the memory card that came with the MPC or another one?

another one made by "Lifetime memory products" its 1 gb

I'm having the same problem . Just got my 2500 today and it came w/ Akai version 1.00 in it . Followed the instructions to load JJ OS and when I restart the MPC it says "WRONG CARD" . When I restart it w/o holding down window it works fine though . Might be my card (a Lexar 1 GB) . Probably gonna go to Fry's in the morning and get a Kingston card since that's what seems to work for everybody .

Not sure if it's the card though because it reads all of my old 2KXL programs on another card that's the same thing .

i had a similar problem. the machine whould not boot and nothing was on the screen.

my solution was to install the akai OS from the Akai mem card (i had a compatible one from another brand but that did not work)
By holding down WINDOW button on start up with the akai os on the flash card and pressing ramdomly on the F button i managed to reinstall the original os without seeing anythin on screen. hope it helps.

When installing JJOS from a (non akai) memory card make sure the card has been fromatted by the mpc.
The blank screen may also be the contrast setting

In my case it wasent a new machine, i already had the card formated and the contrast set and i know how to change it, my machine crashed because i installed a corrupted copy of JJ OS, and that method worked for me.. hope it works for you tonezpro.

I've fixed it all now it seemed to be a dodgy card! So i got a card reader and a new kingston 1gb cf card. It will now let me install the OS fine when holding down window as it did before.

Same fix here . I got an Akai CF card that my homie had from his 1000, put the OS on it and it worked perfectly . Time to get back to work .
