MPC 3000 questions re: replacement screen, backlight etc

Ok so I know this treads well worn terrain on this forum, but the search function isn't yielding much. I have searched 'el-backlight', 'replace screen' etc and read a lot of threads prior to posting this.

I'm trying to find out the following...

1. Anyone know where to get a replacement for the plastic (external) part of the MPC 3000 screen? Mine is real scratched up (I bought it like that) and it is hard to see as the scratches reflect in the light. I can't find this anywhere online. If anyone has this part as a spare let me know..

2. I know you can either purchase the backlight or a complete screen.. how do I determine if my screen needs replacing? For example, on my MPC 2000 I replaced the screen because it was so full of lines that it was unreadable.. but my 3000 is just really dim, there are no other issues with the screen. I'm thinking I just need a new backlight, and obviously this is way cheaper, so if anyone can let me know I'd appreciate it!

3. The same old question.. anyone got a video or pics of how to replace the screen/backlight? I have previously removed the board with all the buttons to clean the switches and service the jog wheel, so I've had a reasonably good look around in there - is there any soldering required if you are just replacing the entire screen?

4. Anyone got a spare 'STOP' button for the 3000 classic lying around? The previous owner of my MPC smashed mine up real good. I'll post this up in the want forums, but thought I'd ask here anyway.

5. Anyone ever tried re-painting the jog wheel? Or know where I can get a replacement?

Thanks man - cool link. Sounds like I just need a new backlight, not an entire new screen (which is pretty much what I thought, and was hoping that would be the case).

I have a couple of s series samplers that I may get around to replacing the backlight on eventually, although I don't use them much and one is on 'permanent loan' to a friend.

I was hoping for pics/info about replacing the backlight on an MPC 3000 if any are out there or there is a thread on here that I've missed, please let me know!

The parts I'm after are specific to the MPC 3000/60 so I don't think an S3000 for parts is gonna be much help in this case..

Have you tried contacting VST, Forat, MPCStuff for this part?

The video below is for a S1000, but the install is very similar to the 3000.

There is a Yahoo Group for MPC 3000 users (http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/MPC3000/) and there is a very detailed pdf of installing a backlight in a 3000. You may have to register before you are able to view the files.

The LCD and backlight in the S3000 can be a drop in replacement for the one in the MPC 3000. There are also some other juicy parts inside like the inverter which you can use in the 3000 as well.

I'm not in need of any parts aside from a stop button and the external plastic screen, those aren't found in an S3000. I'm aware of the similarities between the two machines internally.

I haven't emailed those places, but I'm aware of them. MPC stuff have a stop button but it's for the 3000LE. I was hoping to pay a bit less as I would settle for second hand parts in good condition. I will try that avenue if I don't have any luck on forums.

That youtube link looks dope, will watch it later on, I have an S1000 laying around that I stopped using due to the dead backlight in fact.
