I got my 60 Back after 6 years.

6 years ago I sold my 60, to my best friend.


3 months ago I sold my 4000 to the same friend. As part of the deal I got my 60 back, in trade.


when I sold it to him it had OS 2.02, and a broken backlight. The 60 also died 2 weeks after he bought it.

he sent it to forat, new backlight, new power supply, and OS upgrade(3.10e)

only thing ,missing is scsi, but that it not so crucial.


I love this machine, so simple and sounds nice.
I also got my floppy library back, over 200 drum disks. woo hoo

Congrats, don't let it get away this time. I tried out alot of the newer MPC's but always find myself coming back to the 60. Such a nice piece of equipment. Best sounding MPC in my opinion. Pretty cool you got back the same one you had years ago too. You'll really enjoy the 3.10 since all you might remember at the moment is the 2.02. Its a whole new beast with that upgrade.

one thing I miss from the old os in MIDI Sample Dump.

it was how I got all my sound to the 60 in the past.
however, it is no trouble to haste sample one of the out puts of my sound card

well, I've had it about a week now.

I have made a few beats.

sampled a whole bunch of new drum kits.

purchased a couple roland 12-bit samplers to accompany the 60.

Cool! I'll also re-unite with the MPC60 on wednesday this week. I sold mine somewhere back in 2005 and I've been regretting that ever since. I've now found a nice Mk1, fully expanded and this time I'll keep it. Can't wait to use it with the SCSI expansion as well - I never had that on my old machine..

And now I've picked it up and spent an hour or so trying it out just to get a picture of its condition. Have to say either it's gotta be refurbished quite heavily or the thing haven't seen much use at all. All buttons feel very crisp and like new, the pads have a consistent feel, very similair to how new pads feel, and the power supply is totally quiet unlike my old 60.

It really has everything except the memory expansion for some weird reason (?) I cannot believe why anybody would max it out with SCSI and new OS without expanding the memory. Could it be possible that it perhaps might have it already, but the connector have worked loose or something? Don't really remember how the expansion was mounted.. I might open it up anyway just to check things out.

Can't complain for 850 $ though, a good deal.

Edit: I can only find the memory expansion listed at forat. Is that the only available source nowadays?

Ok, I got fooled by the default values in the sampling menu.. it sat at 13 seconds and I thought this meant the memory wasn't expanded. As soon as I opened the thing up I realised the expansion was there. Sure enough I can set the maximum time to 26 seconds.. all good!!

Congrats. I've been missing using my MPC3000 lately and this thread has me thinking. I still have it. I've just settled on the MPC4000 for its flexibility.
