Just wondering.... If i install a Zip drive on my MPC 3000, but have the OS on floppy (3.16). Do i have to have the OS on Zip disk also and load it everytime? The floppy is the only medium i had for installing 3.16, upon boot-up. Currently have 3.08 Rom chip. Thanks.

The MPC3000 does not support booting an OS from a connected SCSI storage device.

OS upgrades can either be temporarily booted into RAM via a floppy.

Or ... permanent via way of an upgrade in ROM.

Can you boot internally from a card reader or zip installed in place of the floppy drive without upgrading the ROM chip?

No you can not.
As stated already.
Temporary boot into RAM from a floppy disk.
Or permanent via way of a ROM upgrade.
The MPC3000 has no code present to seek and load an OS upgrade via devices other than its floppy drive.

I didnt realise that - but it makes perfect sense.
Another reason to get 3.50!
