I used to have all this kinda shit in my tiny tiny apartment, it had to go and I'm looking for a bigger place with more space. in the meantime this is my childhood bedroom at my folks' house - peep the wallpaper, am I not the freshest...ah never mind 8)

edit...that's a worktop - just noticed that the wood effect and skirting made it look like all my sh!t was just sitting on the floor

that is actually what i meant was missing :D soon though, hopefully...

Mixer is a Numark Matrix 2

Saw it a few times in the local guitar shop and copped it for £50 when they were having a clear-out. Nothing amazing but I was upgrading from the horrible numark 950 mixer so simply having slope-adjustable fader & a working 3 channel eq was such a huge upgrade. I will probably upgrade again at some point to a more serious mixer, for the moment I don't need one though.

That is crazy. I have almost the same setup. MPC 1000, cheap mixer, ipod, psp with Beaterater, and I have a double paw Maine Coon.

here's my place, everything holds in a 5'x10' space. including but not shown, a danelectro guitar, a bass and 2 3-drawers stack one over the other.

with the stuff used you can guess that i usualy don't start from a record

i used to master on a laptop but after i purchased the mixer, i do it on the 2 track reel-to-reel tape recorder. then i bounce the result on the s6000 or the mpc, thru an external ADC.

anyway, it's ugly, it's crammed and i definitely didn't study in home staging.

I'm not novielo but I used to have a KP3. I hope you don't mind if I give my opinion. The Kaoss pad was a lot of fun to play with for a while but there were a number of problems with it. First, the sound wasn't great. It was always rather soft and simply didn't sound very good. The sampler on it was cool just for looping and you have to really play with it to get it to work right. As an effects processor, to many presets. there were all sorts of filters just names f1 or whatever and, unless you want to memorize what all 120 of them do, it is not easy to use. All things said and done, not for me but somebody might like it more.

is that the soundcraft epm8? if so i have the same mixer with a similar set up. and i was just wondering. how you incorporated it into your studio and how you have everything wired. also whats your opinion on the mixer. gotta say love mine, only issue is the volume cracks when i turn it up or down

shottz. : i like the kaoss pad alot. it got it's limitation like joeljar said, but on the other end the touch pad is super intuitive. the samples can be manipulated extensively in real time, take part out of it, bring them back. re sample them, you have a mixer function to adjust level of each. i use the samples for word phrase, noise and other non beat/rhythm related stuff.

the fx names are very cryptic. but with the editor you can easily assign fx to 1 of the 8 buttons, samples to 1 of the 4 slots, midi cc message and so on. all saved on a sd card that can be recalled in 20 seconds with the kp3.

by the way, i do ambiant and downtempo related stuff.

joeljar : no offence taken sir :D

klassik.one : i also like the mixer alot, i do alot of research prior to buy and this mixer in that price range seemed to have he best sounding EQ. which it does, well to my ears.

now for the wiring. yes it's a soundcraft epm8. i do all of my noise/instrument sample by myself. i don't even have a turn table! when creating a beat/phrase i got the main out of the mpc connected to 2 channels. then i play whatever i need thru the mixer add effects when needed with the send/receive. when i found what i'm looking for, i turn the mixer volume of the main outs to none. plug my headphone in the phone jack of the mpc and use a black lion audiopreamp out from the board to the ADC (also from bla) and in the spdif of the mpc (because i think that the ad converter on the mpc is not of the best, nut that's just me). i monitor right from the spdif (thanks to jjos). when i'm done creating, i fine tune and use all 6 output of the mpc to the board. again i make use of the send-receive of the board for effects, be it reverb, delay, pitch shifter, form the kp3, vt-1, a4000, nord modular, shermann... you get it.... what ever i have on hand. that's my final mixing that i throw in an old reel-to-reel with the line out rca plugs. that's my "master". i like the grit and saturation of tape recording, i could use a vst to do it, but i simply prefer the hardware route. then finaly, i record the reel-to-reel with the adc to the mpc. and i'm done. i don't know if it would be easier with a mpc4000?

in short, the mixer is like a patch bay with volume and EQ

enotide : yep!! the drums are amazing in the filterbank. the synth engine also can add a nice touch
