32mb ram on the 2000 classic

I'm a maxed out ram 2000xl user but my baby got thieved so i just copped a 2000 classic off ebay which was advertised as having the eb16 fx board and 32mb ram upgrade. The effects board appears to be in there but it's only allowing me the standard 10.9s stereo sampling time when i go to sample my record. Am i missing something? is there something i have to do to get the full capacity out of the thing or have i just been **** over by the seller?

Any input is greatly appreciated

thanks for the response, appreciate that, but even i do find it in there, it's certainly not showing up in the interface. Is there anyway i have to activate it or should it just work from the get go without me having to do anything like how it was on my maxed out 2000xl?

Just go to "time" in sample window and turn the seconds up either by turning the data wheel or by using the numeric keys. (You are not referencing your manual )

press MIXER and SHIFT together, press OPEN WINDOW,press the 0 button while pressing the shift button...and check your memory without opening your machine...

also if u press open window on the seconds in the sampling screen it'll show you. They could've been put in and not tested or are not sitting correctly though...
i ordered a 2000 from japan that apparently had 32mb.. But only had the stock 2mb. Same guy maybe? Haha.

Thanks for the responses, I'm aware of these ways of checking memory but was just wondering if it's something that i need to be doing to activate the memory. it appears not. It appears that either the 32mb has not been installed or there's a problem with it if it has.

Think i'll be sending the seller an invoice for some new memory. can't really be arsed sending the whole thing back. shame though cos of the inconvenience.

Simply look inside. Its not a big deal. Could be just some contact problem that will be easy to fix by cleaning the contacts of the RAM sticks. I had the same problem with my 2000. Seller wrote it has 32MB. As it arrived it just show me some seconds so I opened it up and found full loaded RAM slots. So I cleaned it and bam everything was fine.

thanks for the response peter piper. Just noticed the NV slider is pretty much useless too. If i open it up (never had to open an mp before) am i able to see if it could be a contact problem with that too or would it not be obvious?

Top panel, and circuit board have to come out to get at the underside of the fader... at least in the 2KXL

Look for broken solder joints at all 6 of the pins. if you see any cracked connections, reflow the solder and it may be ok, maybe not.

They tend to get hit, and crack the joints.

Also, being hit can break the plastic wiper carrier of the fader, and I've even seen them missing the metal wipers on the underside

Another common failure is worn carbon tracks.

They don't even have to be all the way through... just worn enough to restrict conduction and screw with resistance and whatnot.

They are cheap, and easy to replace if you can solder.

It is a B Taper 10 Ohm Dual slide potentiometer.... Made by Alps you can get them from any electronics supplier

I get mine for a couple bucks each, and simply trim the lever down to length
(The long lever is cheaper, and tapered, which works well in spacing the cap from the top panel when you cut them to the correct length)

You mean a rotary potentiometer? The slider is a potentiometer too... They all work the same if the specs match.

The trick would be mounting the pot and then connecting it to the pads on the mainboard. If you go this route, I would like to see pictures...
