yeah, I'd be curious to know how you quantify "most famous"? Isn't that kind of a relative label. Most famous of all times? Most famous this year? I think everybody would have different views on who's most famous. Though is there any rap group any more famous than RunDMC? I doubt it.

50's hot right now, but his fame could fade. Em's been pretty famous for a few years, but I don't know that I'd say most famous.

I'm not doubtin' your knowledge, cause you obviously know what your talkin' about, but have you ever heard the saying "I can show ya better than tell ya". Show us what great mixing sounds like by telling us what album(s) we can hear you on. I mean your the one that brought it up.

There's one name that EVERYBODY knows all around the world. Youngstas, old folks, men, women, children, hermaphrodites...

My second best mix is a song called "Everywhere I Go" produced (track) by Swizz Beats. The funny thing is that it was recorded on an SSL in New York, but vocals were recorded and the song mixed on a D8B(!) by yours truly. People lose their minds when they found out that I made a Mackie bang like that. I went to a studio one time and the owner was using that song to show off his mains (big speakers) to prospective clients! I even got in a debate with my surrogate uncle Skip Saylor (Skip Saylor Recording) about home studio vs. big studio. I put that song on, turned the SSL on 11 (some of them go to 11 instead of 10) and watched his face turn beet red. If you find that song, then you'll know who I am. The credit for that particular song doesn't appear on the CD (I think they ran out of space) , but my giant picture is in the middle of the inlay, along with recording and mixing credits on nearly every song. For an example of my rock work, try to find something from the SoCal band Dfrost. I produced, engineered, mixed, mastered, and even played guitar on a track for their "Digital Dustbowl" LP (on a less than $10,000 budget) which not only won 2 awards at the San Diego Music Awards, but is considered a local classic, as well. They also got endorsements from Dean Markley, Schecter, Warwick, and Vic Firth afterwards. Pleezeballeve.

I know a lot, but I don't know everything. Put me in the company of Alan Parsons, Terry Date, Andy Wallace, Rick Rubin, Colin Richardson, Dr. Dre, Mike Dean, Fleming Rasmussen, Ross Robinson and the like, and I shut up and listen. I'm trying to be on that level someday, and I'll never get there with my jaws flappin' and peanut butter in my ears.

p.s. All of my work with my main client (5 or 6 albums), with the exception of "Everywhere I Go", has been ROUGH mixes that were released because my client feels that my roughs sound better than most people's final mixes. I wish that I coulda got the chance to do that stuff at a big facility. I'll also be mixing the upcoming 213 album, not roughs and NOT on a D8B.

I haven't heard Quik's latest, but you're right about his stuff usually sounding tight as hell. I usually tell people that I have 2 studio mentors - Gerry Brown (R. YO ! DJ QUIK IS THE BEST PRODUCER IN MY OPINION... AND I WAS MADE AT THE FACT THAT " UNDER THE INFLUENCE" SOUNDED REALLY MUDDY.... ON SOME OF THE SONGS YOU CAN'T REALLY HEAR HIS VOICE THAT GOOD.... BUT, I LOVE THE ALBUM, SO I CRANK IT UP AND HEAR EVERTHING FINE..... YO GET THE DJ QUIK DVD AND CHECK OUT THE BOARDS HE WORKS ON.... PEACE....

Somehow I had a feeling you were talkin' about Snoop, no doubt, he probably is one of the most famous(I'm still stickin' with RunDMC on that one though). I'll have to go pick that one up now to hear what your talkin about.

yeah he is talkin snoop. according to that socal band (that he produced) d-frost's website, they were produced by snoops personal engineer Tracey Brown. i search all over the internet and in album credits (supernatural and snoop cds since 99) and can't find any mention of Tracey Brown+Snoop except for sites where d-frost is making that claim about who produced them. bottom line freq is full of shit. he ran his mouth of to some local band he produced because he 'engineered' on some local dj's mix cd that had a snoop track on it, and he let it all go to his head and is living in some fantasy world where dj quick trained him, where he worked on the cold cd with Terry Date, where he engineered on Santana's Supernatural album, and where he is snoop's 'personal engineer'. it is all fantasy.

everyone seems so hostile, jeez, calm down. You cant prove he isnt a big time producer, Its like when Qbert uses aliases on his own board and mad heads tell him "he dont know what he's talking about" I bet he kicks aback and luaghs his head off. it is also not hard to hang with major producers/rappers espwcially in LA or here (the Bay) where there is soooo much going on, its an inveitability.
I got a boy who produced a little loop track and the next thing he knew e40 was calling him, asking him to come to the studio and ish to hang out and get his hands on some real gear.
simply put, if you have talent, someone in the game will recognize it and what is it to him to hang with some no name cat who might jsut be the next hot ish there with him kicking it? tons of peeps get put on this way, they just hang out with the big name cuz the big name liked this beat or that freestyle he heard, building that relationship with an artist so that when e40's buddy starts askin about tracks, maybe 40 will say, "oh I got this potna of mine, he got some hot tracks talk to him" networkin'
, why not be the one the producer remembers as his "boy who helped him get his feet wet in the game"? this is how Just Blaze got down, they asked him when he made "oh boy" and it was just a throwaway beat he had in his collection, you know, last weeks weak track could be next months hit.

ask the neptuenes, NORE put them on with superthug, oh no and stuff, and even now as superstar producers, they alwasy remeber NORE and give him hot beats, cuz he helped put 'em on. the beat to Nothin' was the nhottest neptuenes beat in months....

you are right i cant prove he isnt a big time producer, but only because he has already proved he is not. with ingnorant statements about people using his rough mixes (made on a br8 not on ssl's) over other people's final mixes is rediculous. if they chose his mixes he would be in the credits plain and simple.
