I was wondering what some of you thought about this topic. I have a 4000 & a 2500+jjos 3.08 that I use in separate rooms & I love them both. I was going to sell my 2500 (before the 5000 drops the value of the 2500) to pick up a 5000 when they eventually came out. Then, I thought about just upgrading my os, since a good amount of the 5000 features can be found in the new jjos supposedly. I'll be happy either way, just curious to how you all would compare the two units features, functionality, etc. against each other?
(please... no ego or hate mail)

why would 5000 drop value of 2500 ? theyre totally different machines. that's like saying 4000 dropped value of the xl. when they arent even comparable

what's wrong with your current machines/workflow that you feel the need of getting the 5k ?

you dont know what you want in a machine and trying have others decide it for you ? first step would be finding out what you need...

seems like you already know...llearn your shit then you'll know if the 5000 is for you or not....

and what's with the hype about having the newest shit out...it makes better beats or what ?

I HAVE TO AGREE WITH KONCEPT. I DON'T THINK THAT THE 5000 IS GOING TO DROP THE VALUE OF THE 2500 JUST BECAUSE IT'S COMING OUT. IF THATS THE CASE ALL MPC'S WILL DROP IN VALUE. LETS JUST FACE IT WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT THE MPC IS GOING TO DROP IN VALUE REGARDLESS.

ITS SOME WHAT LIKE BUYING A NEW CAR....ONCE YOU HAVE PUT A CERTAIN AMOUT OF MILES ON IT YOU CAN'T GET BACK WHAT YOU PAID FOR IT. ALL MPC'S WILL LOSE VALUE AS TIME GOES ON AND AS LONG AS THERE IS SUPPLY AND DEMAND, AKAI WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE MORE MPC'S. BELEIVE ME....THE 5000 WILL NOT BE THE LAST MP MADE.

well fellas, in preparation for the release of the 5000, akai HAS dropped the 2500 from $1999.99 retail to $1699.00

I have a mpc1000, I want to upgrade but should I take the 2500 or the 5000?? Does it have a sound quality difference?

U can download the comparison chart on the Akaipro website.
Check out the JJOS site and read the JJOS manuals what kind of features it has.
Make up ur mind what ur mpc needs to be able to do for you.
Then pick the mpc that will match ur needs.

There's no difference in sound between those two.

i think most will suggest the 2500... even if they were the same price.

For what reasons would you pick the 2500 over the 5000. Just Blaze's rants were true, but keep in mind a lot of time has passed since, and they have released a new OS.

JJOS adds a lot of features, so you won't be missing out that much if u go for the 2500.
Maybe the synth and direct to disk recording is something u won't have with the 2500, but that's also something my mpc doesn't have to be capable of. I'd rather invest in dedicated equipment, so why would I pay for features I don't want to use?
Dedicated equipment: my mpc for sampling and sequencing, soundmodule for synth and keys/patches and my computer for recording/post production.
THis is the way how I like to work, so that's why I chose I the 2500 over the 5000.

You wouldn't.
Even with JJ OS2 or XL the workflow of the 5k is a lot smoother and the functions are easier to access.
Plus there are still features in the 5k that JJ has not added.

A lot of what Just Blaze complained about had already been addressed at the time of his rant, he just refused to update to 1.02.
If he had been running the current OS at the time he would have had less to complain about.
The rest of his complaints were covered in OS2.
So really the value of his rant in a past point.
