changing 3000 LE faceplate into regular Faceplate?

i most likley gonna scoop a 3000LE pretty soon... allready sold my 1k

i go for the LE because it has all the work done, internal CF Reade, 3.50 OS etc

BUT i absolutly dont like that Faceplate on the LE


so is it interchangeable with the classic one?

and WHERE would i get a classic 3000 Faceplate?

The AKAI MPC3000 LE DOES NOT HAVE INTERNAL CF READER NOR 3.5 OS !

It has floppy disc and 3.11 OS.
The only DIEFFERENCES from the white mpc3000 are:
THE BLACK FACEPLATE AND THAT IT WAS PRODUCED IN 2000 in only 2000 Limited Edition (LE) pieces !
The white mpc3000 was produced in 1994.

i know i know, just the one i want to buy has those extras...

well, all the inside are the same! The black faceplate has a lebel ,with the LE No (there are only 2000 pieces)!
It is a pity, that you buy an LE and remove these characteristics !
I dont know if you find anywhere a white faceplate to replace the black one !

why dont you buy a white classic mpc 3000 , which is cheaper than LE, upgrade to 3.5 OS and get a CF READER ?!

well buying a CF reader and 3.50 OS myself allready adds up to 400$ extra and i would like to have an internal card reader.. really dont want that big extra case around...and i have no clue how to fit it in....
and the only 3000 with internal one i can find available is a LE wich also includes 3.50

so what else should i do... dont feel like doing a DIY project instead of making music

if you can point me to a 3k with internal reader i am happy to go for it and build the OS in myself


or is id DEAD-simple to mod it to the int. card reader? if so i have no idea what kind i would need....

i am not totaly unskilled, used to build around inside computers when i was younger, so if there is easy explanation available, not heavy soldering to be done, and that card reader is a lot cheaper than the external one from scsi-for-samplers.......... THAN i rather might want to do that....

No. You can't go from IDE to SCSI.

If you want a card reader inside a 3k, you will need a SCSI card reader.

Check out the link below for installing a SCSI Zip Drive inside a 3000 to get an idea of the cabling/connections you would have to make for installing a card reader.

but you are confusing me man, first i can not find a "SCSI Card Reader" and 2nd in another thread in this subforum its said that a "Acard" IDE to SCSI Adapter is needed and that will go with an internal Card reader...

but the LE faceplate is ugly or am i the only one that thinks this way?
