connecting mpc 2000 xl to a computer

hello,

sorry for such a newbie question but how is it possible and what cable i have to use?

you need to read up on the xl...you'll find your answer, plus pretty much anything else you need 2.

what are you trying to do with the mpc hooked up to the computer?

1) record your mpc projects onto your computer
2) record sounds from your computer onto your mpc
3) use your mpc as a midi pad controller for your music programs sort of like an akai mpd

figure out what you need to do first and you will be able to find out what cable(s) you need.

it will be cool if i could use all the three features.

can you link something because i couldn't find anything..

I've always used standard USB gear with my daw so going with a 2000xl had me wondering that myself once

But now I have a question of my own


I don't have any type of audio input on the computer my daw is installed on. It's a built in mic, headphone jack(don't believe it's a 3.5mm input though that's why I'm shot), USB, mini USB and firewire

Has anyone been through this?

Going by the product description, it sounds as if the device also has spdif inputs (mpc digital outs connect to this). Also reads as if maybe the SPDIF can work double duty as analog ins as well. I missed that part before.
If this is true what I'm thinking then, yes, it should work just fine going between your mpc digital outs/main outs convert to usb and on into your daw usb.

I don't see why it wouldn't. I'm even thinking of just analog-USB from the mixer so I can incorporate scratching straight into the daw recording. ableton has never been my friend for post production uses like this but I'll let ya'll know if I make it work.
