Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By starvinboi83 Thu Aug 12, 2004 5:44 pm
Every time I change the amount of bars for a certain track, the mpc 2Kxl automatically changes the amount of bars for every other track that's in that same sequence, and that throws my entire melody off.

Can each track in a sequence have their own set amount of bars or do all of the track bars have to be the same in each sequence?

Why would you want to do this? Please give an example on how changing bars can throw off a melody.

:?:

But no.... you can't do this. When you add or subtract bars, it is for the sequence.

you can erase parts of tracks with the edit screen. that wont change the sequence length, just make parts of the tracks silent.

Okay I have a 2 bar melody loop on track 1 (1.01.01-3) and on track 2 I want to bring another melody to play about 4 or 5 bars and start it on the last bar of trk 1 and let it continue after trk 1 has looped but adding bars adding those extra 2 or 3 bars to trk 2 also adds those bars to track 1 creating blank bars that nothing plays on in trk 1 (causing a pause in between the melody already on trk 1)

Do u get me?

how bout you copy track 1 out to 8 bars (use the edit function - not the bars function on the right) and then copy track two to wherever you want. in other words make one long sequence that can play out your whole idea.

also if you hit EDIT and then BARS you can copy your sequence out longer without adding silence like if you add them on the bars field on the main screen.
