Whoa guys!~ nice additions to the thread :D

Triple X- I think I like the 2nd pic best..

I dig that mod Selecta! But, you should treat your mpc to a fresh set of pads  Looks like she's earned 'em...

thanks for the comments, appreciate.

sorry for the nasty pads - it was just some quick and dirty pics... 8)

the wood is ash and it looks way too overbright on that pics.

the wood is also not finished, yet. the surface will get a little smoother and the wood texture will come out a little more.

the design should indeed look like a 3000. there are some very nice 3000s on forats site and i liked the handrest on them.

@x: i like design 1 and 2

thanks for the input Jo.
I think when you clean the pads up some it'll breathe a whole new life into it.
if you or your uncle is gonna take it apart again to do some sanding, I would take that opportunity to clean the top case and the buttons.
I just use rubbing alcohol on mine. I put the buttons in a mixture of warm water/alcohol and them dry em. a faster method is to just quickly wipe em down with alcohol on a q-tip cotton swab.
As for the top cover.. a warm damp clothe with some alcohol as well. cleans it right up.

The pads.. I have heard you can boil them. But I never tried it. I would try a paper towel and yea you guess it, alcohol.

I think it would really look dope of your uncle used a round over bit or 45 degree chamfer bit on a router to round or angle off the edges on the sides of the wood grain. the round over would look awesome!

are the screws on the side panels the only thing holding it on?

EDIT: It occurred to me that when ppl are telling me what # pic they like of mine that not everyone might be counting from left to right and top to bottom. So i fixed it to avoid any confusion cause Im OCD like that. which is why ppl that know me call me OCD the evil genius.
thanks for all the input thus far guys. I also removed the last two pics that had the painted jog wheel center, since I ain't gonna do that.
Im leaning towards pic #1 myself.

can you explain that a little better? (with a picture?)
the edges are with a small radius, because all the original edges of the mpc and the buttons have a fairly small radius and so i did not want to round the edges too much. or did you mean something completly different?

yes the screws on the side are the only fixture to the mpc, but the woodwork (three pieces) is bolted with wood bolts and glued together so it is now actually one u-shaped piece. it sits very firm and you can lift the mpc up the same way you could with the original side panels.
the ash wood is very hard and so the handrest is really sturdy.

Triple-X wrote:I aint saying I dont like it.. It just reminds me of a 3000. which is cool and all. But I favor the new school look.
that 2010 sh!t. Hence my usage of White leds. it has that HID headlight look. (plus I aint seen anyone else to it)

yo ceo.. you gotta pic a picture. tell me which of the mockups you liked..
Im trying to get input to help me make my final decision!

I like Picture 1 Fam. Badazz! I'm a fan of the white screen for sure.

And yeah, selecta jo's joint does have that 3k look to it. I think thats why I like it lol.

nah Jo I did mean the radius.
I did notice the slight radius(round over is the woodshop term) on the edges, and just thought it would look cool with a more exaggerated radius. BUt if you specifically wanted only a mild one, then disregard my opinion.

A 45deg chamfer is a angled bevel edge INSTEAD of a radius. like this http://pimp-my-mpc.com/Wooden_end_cheek ... 00.html#10

and thanks for the input CEO.. im leaning towards #1 as well.
although I am getting a few extra function buttons and will paint some black and some red I think.
So if I get tired of all black and wanna spice it up I can swap.
But as of now, I will NOT do Red Side panels OR Red Pads.

however I am thinking about getting some of the Black pads from mpcstuff.
Theirs just look better to me. Not reflective at all, so they dont appear to get that glossy worn look, and the pad corners are more rounded.
When I look at my mpc now, It looks like square pads, and rounded pad cutouts in the top cover.
Look at yours..?

If I remember correctly i think he said it was around 800 right?
thats fast track pimps aint it?

I dont have time to check now, but I thought he mentioned that around the area he posted the pics originally.

either way 800 a grand.. pretty close..

but depending on what your pocket looks like at any given time, 200 bucks is 200 bucks.

p.s. I have my buddys 5000 here again, painting some buttons.
I know this is the 2500 custom thread.. but I'll toss up some pics none the less.
custom is custom, and I think this one is gonna come out DOPE!
