Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Ok this is my first post here so thanks in advance for any help.

I have had my 2000 for about 5 years and suddenly the zip stops working at a show. I've tried other zip drives and they dont work either. The MPC just jumps right over trying to check the SCSI when turned on and goes straight to loading the OS from the floppy. I cant access songs from the zip after loading from the floppy either, when trying to scroll to SCSI-5, the MPC just freezes up with "wait" displayed on the screen. From searching the forums here, my best guess is that I have blown the SCSI fuse. I think I did plug in the zip while the MPC was on. I never knew that was a no-no untill reading here.

So, if you guys think this might be a SCSI fuse problem, is it something I can replace rather easily myself, or should I take it somewhere?

thanks.

If you know a circuit board techie I would let them do. It requires soldering to the mainboard. The fuse is not a regular fuse either. I had Forat do mine for me.

Good luck!.

yeah sounds like it may be your scsi fuse..if the cable from the zip to the mpc comes out while the mpc is on then it automatically blows the fuse
