floppy loads only during power up or after reinserting.

just got a sony mpf520-1 which loads on power up. But doesnt see the disk for further loading and saving unless i eject and reinsert the disk.anyone had this problem or have any suggestions?

Also as the sony drive could use hd disks if it was in a computer,any reason why i shouldnt use the sticker method to trick the drive into thinking there dd disks.. I know that this isnt recommended for dd drives, but wondered if this situation is different.

I guess it has something todo with the diskchange signal. Some diskdrives support two drivemodes RY (Ready) and DC (DiskChange) and you can choose them by a jumper or a solderbridge. Search the web to get infos about that.

For the HD/DD thing. AFAIK the HD disks just have other physical specifications then the DD disks. Although it will work, it is not that safty to use HD disks in DD drives.

yeah i heard that, the sony mpf520-1 can use hd disks normally so thats why i though it might be ok.
