need help with mpd16

hi everyone

i just got the mpd16 in the mail today... it doesnt work right with usb for some reason, so i must use it with straight midi. is there anyway to set what note on the keyboard each pad represents without the utility program? because each pad plays shit from all over the place, and id like to just use C1 and each progressing key to the right of it for each pad. thx

nevermind i figured it out... now i just need to see how to get this slider goin and ill be good to go

one more question

im trying to use my mpd with my keyboard controller, i have the mpd going into the the keys IN, then keys OUT to soundcards IN... when i hit the pads it shows its hittin my keys on the screen (casio wk3000... has the piano display showing what keys your hitting) but its not sending any midi messages to reason... and the keys are still transmitting, anyone know what needs to be done? thx

you are controlling your midi controller, hook the mpd to the thru of your keyboard and see what that does, then you should be able to use both

well i guess im ****, i have no midi thru on this piece of crap... guess ill need to just get another interface

does the mpd have a midi thru, if so hook your board up to it and hook the mpd up to the computer

or mabey your board has midi echo where it can echo what is on the in and route it to the out, what kind of controller do you got

mpd doesnt have midi thru, and im using a casio wk-3000 as my controller right now, i dont believe it has echo but ill have to check just incase... its all good though, i get my paycheck tomarrow and ill probably just spend the 70 bucks to get the midi interface i need to use both at the same time
