i haven't used it much lately because i've been getting a lot more into the computer for sound design, and FX. but my asr-x will never be forgotten! it will always be in my collection.

glad to see that asrxcite site made it back online. the original host had to bail on hosting it (can't blame the guy) and i'm glad someone else stepped up.
i'm just using my asrx as a sound module now, and am pretty happy with the results. got a set o' sounds from syntaur and they're all pretty solid and easily tweakable, plus some of my own stuff in there....

i'm gonna buy an asr-10, i wanted to know about playing it as a keyboard, with synth sounds, how does this work? do you buy a disk with just synth sounds assigned to each key and have it as (what an mpc user would call) a program? and can you change the sounds? or what

no bigs. the asr-10 is rackmount and (from what I've seen) offers a bit more than the asr-x and asr-x-pro, which are standalone units, with pads and such. more like MPCs versus rackmounts.

Its an Advanced Sampler. It comes in Rack Mount and Keyboard form.
I suggest you get the keyboard and sequence it with your 500.
Sampling and re-sampling is real easy. ASR-X and ASR-10 has a similar sound and effects. ASR-10 has a more solid Sequencer.
Yes you can buy disks with sounds or make your own.

OK, if you get the Keyboard version, Make sure it has scsi already installed.
The Rack version comes standard with scsi.

You can ebay it, just have to be patient. I think it goes for $200, so its not cheap.
