Linear Sequences Vs Looped Sequences

Hey guys I've just started using sequnces that are like 300 bars in length and its all new to me. I came from the Emu-xl7 and Im used to recording 8, 16 bar looped sequences, and learning the track mutes well enough to get a version onto my harddisk recorder then do overdubs.....Its newbie I know...
But yesterday I got right into it and did my first 'real' song....hehehe
and it all fell into place, theres so much more planning and structure than doing live mixes. so anyway, thanks guys... without this forum I probably would've gotten my mpc and just kept on kicking 8 bar loops. Big ups to you muthafkers for pushing the newbies to work hard at their game and not just settle for alright...........

Ill stop blabbing sht now, U Guys got any tips for working with big long mutha sequences, using locates, working methods etc.... Just basic ish...

I been doing my usual 8 bar loops to flesh out how the track is gunna kick then I copy the sequence for a heap of bars and record some live track mutes... Then I add cut paste switch flip and dck about till it sounds good..

Just wanna ask why you got into MPC after using the EMU? Didn't it cater
to your needs?

I still got the EMU only using it as a module now, I bought the MPC to get right into multisampling and actually arranging using samples(only had sp505 which has a sht sequencer and I still cant figure out how to externally trigger it)

+I loved the idea of the huge screen and piano roll/grid on a hardware beast....4 midi outs...
should I go on???

PLUS I HEARD IT HAD A GOOD PRESETS..
