How Important is a mixer....

I wanted to know because Ive recently really started to dig in my few records that I have and theres a few things that I found that can need some help. I have a Stanton str8-100 turntable so I didnt need the mixer like many turntables do. But now I've noticed that you can use a mixer for some eq. Is there anything else to it?

it'll also allow you to connect other sound sources so they can easily be sampled with a flick of switch or moving a slider. for example, you can also run a cd player and dvd payer into the line ins.

if you need one get one. if a TT doesnt have a usb cable or w/e, then ppl get a mixer to connect it to the computer maybe?

also, ppl get one to connect multiple machines to play through their computers and record.

its really all about if you seriously need one or not

the mixer allows you to manipulate your routing to get the most out of your gear without connecting and disconnecting. Some offer quality preamps which will improve your audio. Some have USB or Firewire outs which will allow you to track to the DAW with ease. And of course the EQ

On the flip side it is not "Needed" Sure it can be better to have but in my home studio there is no mixer. I use a patchbay since I dont have a ton of routing options.
