Bad move. Flipping the data cable places power and ground onto incorrect pins.

Can in some instances cause damage to the floppy drive.

Can also in some instances cause damage to the MPC60 floppy drive controller chip.

Possibly damage done to floppy drive controller circuit on the MPC60 main board as a result of the cable flip ???

Or maybe the old Mitsubishi drive is passed its use by date.

What OS is your MPC60 running ?

What exact full model of drive did VST ship you ?

Post some close up pictures of the jumpers and the drive flip side to show it's circuit board.

did u try to format a new floppy with the new one and try to save init and to read?
maybe your old floppy made with mitsubishi can't be read with any new one due to some head alignment prob on your mitsubishi

When the floppy light is continuously on, it's usually a cabling issue -- either a cable is hooked up incorrectly or not at all. Look at the connections of the ribbon cable on the mainboard for cold solder joints, also look at the cable to make sure it is not damaged.

How are your jumpers set -- please let us know the configuration (i.e. which pins have the shunts on them) -- I can't tell from the picture you took.
