I really need help here.
I have just recently got an MPC2500 2nd hand with AKAI os installed on it.
I can see by it that it has been used verry little if at all. i could have been sitting i the one place for a long time!?

I first noticed the jog wheel was in no way accurate (sometimes it doesn't read it is being moved and doesn't read every click)
then i noticed the buttons under it would need to be pressed a few times to work (not always, just randomly??)

the slider on the left doest read properly. when i slide it down to the bottom it wont go all the way down it might jump around at the end or stop before it reaches the bottom or jump back up to the middle. the panning also moves with the slider randomly and if i hit the pads in the mixer window after moving the slider the pan will change on that pad (sometimes), then it is impossible to get it center again because the knob randomly moves it around and the jog whell is bogey to

I desperately need help with this. does any one have any ideas!? would the AKAI os have anything to do with it? I have tried out the jjos yet?
PLEASE HELP ME!!! :?

I dunno, I think that might just be 'cause the jog wheel and buttons on the 2500 suck ass. My jog wheel isn't totally accurate-like in the grid sometimes half a click advances the cursor one full note, and some buttons take a good firm press to engage on my brand new 2500.

They don't make 'em like they used to. That other shit with the Q-links and panning sounds F'd up though.

Edit: I just messed around with my jog wheel and buttons to see how often they would **** up. They are only inaccurate like 1 time out of 100, so I think your shits **** up. Return it if you can.

Sounds like You need a new Jog Wheel and Qlink. It also sounds like your buttons need cleaning.

When encoders like those (data wheel/Qlink) go bad, Values jump like what you explained.

HA AH HA AH HA.. OH Sulli SO funny.. laughed so hard my side hurts ???

None of what he described matches ANY of the problems I had. AT ALL!

oh and btw Sulli ... this quote above /\ /\ /\ /\ is what a reply that is actually helpful and related looks like (instead of wasting the OP's time reading thru irrelevant non related material in my old thread in an attempt to take a stab at insinuating that I would Sell my Broken mpc to a unsuspecting innocent person, rather than see that it got sent back to the fuks that shipped it defective in the first place)

now get back to Riding the JJSEQ Bizack.. oh yeah.. no pun intended

I was trying to imply he inherited your bad luck with the 2500...

I'm sorry that it seems like I thought you were the most dishonest sleazy scum bag in the world with no morals toward another man's feelings that could be hurt when he opens the box and finds out he has been had by Akai or some kid that did a switch-a-rue on his fourteen hundred dollar device.<Ooo-wee, now thats a run on sentence.

well there is no need to apologize for that seeing as how I cant fault you for being presumptuous and naive not to mention partially blind.

I mean when you could categorize me as "the most dishonest sleazy scum bag in the world with no morals toward another man's feelings that could be hurt when he opens the box and finds out he has been had by Akai or some kid that did a switch-a-rue on his fourteen hundred dollar device" which clearly indicates that you(are blind) or must have haphazardly read those previous threads you are referring to.. for a couple of reasons.

for one.. I was the "other man" that got a box with a 1400 dollar device" that had been "had" in the 1st place.

secondly.. you called me a kid. when did we discuss my age? I bet im older than you actually. (oh wait? wouldn't that be presumptuous? ) 0kay then never mind that part..

Third.. I dont get mad I get even. I got screwed with my 2500. I made it CLEAR in those threads that I was trying to stick it to AKAI (namely NuKai) not some innocent guy like myself that paid his hard earned money to get a defective POS.

For you to not have gathered that from the abundance of posts in the threads your referring too?
Well then like I said, clearly you must be blind or extremely naive. Which is why an apology was not really in order.
HOWEVER...
All that aside, I accept your apology anyway. :D

This is the quote I was thinking about when I saw his problem.

Right on.

...How did you end up fixing it?

swapped the power supply assy, power switch assy, Operation pcb assy, and CPU Board pcb Assy, and 8 out Assy from a working 2500 to mine as planned. Although I got permission to do it from a manager at a big box music store in exchange for a 12 pack of Heinikin

I had tried swapping one aprt at a time to narrow it down to a specific issue, but had varying results when doing so.
Sometimes the crackle would vanish but the pop would remain, and vise versa and so on and so forth.
So finally I just pretty much swapped all the major components, except the F1-F6 board, the cf card reader/HP jack board, the cdrw board, the hd board, the midi port module, the qlink pcb, the screen, etc.

anyway, works great.
Im only posting this in case someone else suffers my issue.
and with the trouble I had getting help with this.. If ANYONE has a similar issue and needs help.
FEEL FREE TO PM ME

I was thinking if the guy you gave the 12 pack of Heinikin to...drank the beer at lunch... he might of forgot to send the MPC back to Akai... then someone could of bought it and inherited your problems. Also it said PM me...

LOL damn did I paint the guy to be a derelict or something?
I actually have not brought him the 12 pack yet. its in my fridge still. lol
So unless he is drinking on the job normally, I doubt it.

When I brought it back I specifically told the sales guy it was defective, and alerted the manager(12 pack guy) that I brought it back as he requested. He asked me to do it that way so he wasn't directly involved I believe but also so he knew to RTV it to Akai.

and yea, we're cool
