ok . Now i do :)

Thanks alot le rat.

but still... it would be killer if it was possible to record more than one audio track without the need of stop

Overdub AUDIO track recording, so you can record your audio track whilst your sequence is playing, without having to first stop everything.

Means you can have your hands jamming along on your keyboard/guitar/congas, etc, then hit your foot-pedal to record/overdub.

Would be nice to have the sequence keep looping with your recorded audio. When you turn overdub off, the mpc could select a new, empty audio track for you, ready for more overdub-action. Will keep things flowing nicely :)

A good example of another reason I want overdub audio track recording is:
Say I have a keyboard sequenced up to my mpc... it goes through a delay pedal and a compressor and the compressor's side-chain has an input from one of my mpc channels... I cannot record this from a 'standing start' as my effects won't have kicked in properly till maybe a bar or two later. Sure I could set up two dummy bars up at the start and attach them to the beginning of my sequence.. and then cut them off afterwards and then chop off the start portion of my audio track properly in order to line it up -.-

But really, it's keeping the creative flow going and jamming along to my mpc and then hitting record when I FEEL something that I want. Having to stop the mpc, hit record.. tick, tick, tick, tick is naff.
It was possible to record audio on-the-fly in WAkaiOS, please make it possible in JJOS.

Just an idea:

You could make it so that when the OS is being installed, the user can choose which features they want, in order to make room for the features they use.

e.g.
My selection would be:

ARPEGGIATOR: NO
CHORD: NO
PATTERNS: NO
AUDIO TRACKS WITH OVERDUB: YES
LIVE GRID EDIT EDITING: YES
FULL Q-LINK FUNCTIONALITY: YES

Just a thought :P

Would be nice to be able to time-shift, alter velocity, tuning, decay, etc of recorded hits in GRID EDIT whilst the sequence is playing.
I've always been really surprised that this has not been possible. I can't comprehend why it isn't possible.
Also, be able to turn off page-scrolling in grid edit whilst sequence is playing.

YES!!! A Custumizable OS whould be THE SH*T !!
If we could just pick the features we want and pay for them individually i whould be a verry happy man!
Or a the instalation point the installer whould ask for every feature if you want it or not, that way there could be a lot more features and we could choose until the OS size limite is reached.

this is an old idea. peeps were suggesting this years ago when JJ was working on os 2. i think it's a great idea, but i don't think JJ will ever do it. it would be VERY complex to code something like this. i'm pretty sure it is beyond his programming abilities... or maybe even beyond what the mpcs cpu is capable of.

This also probably makes it damn near impossible to trouble shoot for bugs...
He'd have to account for too many combinations.

think that idea is a non-starter. apparently there isn't much of a space issue with the OS so its not like things need dropped before new features can be added

yeah but now it can have a size up to 5mo (internal memory size).
That os limit size is a recurrent misunderstanding in the forum.

I think number 1... For JJ OS1 and OS2XL ..There needs to be an indication of what pads are playing in the current Track/Sequence in the Sample Program list. Right now in OS2XL there are arrows pointing to each pad... These arrows(Triangles) could flash to the rhythm if that pad/sample is currently playing. This would make it easy to pinpoint and edit samples in the program window.

number 2... For JJ OS1, For Q-link controls (like tune) it should be set up, like the Q-link in OS2XL, where you can set the tune for each track, and then record, and it stays on tune.. This would make it so much better for tuning samples to fit the song on the fly.

number 3, but not the least important.... Is that there needs to be a hotkey to toggle on/off the CLICK from the main page, without going to another menu and having to move the cursor to change it each time!!!!!

Also, for me to want to use OS2XL, I need two Q-links, one for pitch and one for sample start time, to be available simultaneously. This (along with OS1 being more stable) is a major reason for me not switching to OS2XL.

It would be nice as well (maybe this is asking alot), for there to be a sample waveform visible of the highlighted pad/sample in the program edit page, with the envelopes (pitch, filter, amp) superimposed on them, instead of always seeing the whole visible list of all the pad/program/samples, that are currently NOT being edited.

If anyone likes these ideas, please echo them out there to JJ and champion them please!!!!

Thanks.

midi cc >> LFO parameters
midi cc >> ASDR
midi cc >> FX send value
etc.
etc.

4 q-link controllers on mpc 2500 are not enough and possibility to controll more mpc features via external controller using midi cc would be realy great

i'm with you on this but unfortunately it's not going to happen.
it was requested already a long time ago. JJ tried it but said he found it would require a full re-write of the OS from scratch, so he abandoned it. check the FAQ page on JJ's site.
