Topic is self x... But I wanted to know how everyone on here does it. For example, if you sample a James Brown kick or James Brown song, do you save it as JB-Kick or James Brown-Name of song, etc etc. I'm curious because I'm not sure what way will work 4 me to remember the song/sample. Plus I know space is limited. Suggestions?...

Excel Spreadsheet is a very smart choice.

I don't use Excel spreadsheets. I just name my samples according to the source. Like, if I take the intro drums from The Isley Brothers' "Footsteps In The Dark", I'll just name each individual drum hit: Isley Kick, Isley Snare, Isley HiHat. That way means I never forget what is what.

Also, I'll make an individual folder for the Isley Bros drums I've sampled, and that is saved within my "Drums" folder on the MPC.

I only use the MPC 1000. No DAW, no computers or anything else external (not out of choice - I'd like a keyboard, but I'm poor!).

I have folder called Samples. then a sub folder called Drums, with sub folders for w/e the drums/snares, etc. come from (Isley break, with the drums and snares labeled like Isley Kick1, Isley Snare 1)

I use some kind of abbreviations to name samples
To explain with the Isley Brothers example:

IB FtstpDrk BD01
IB FtstpDrk SN01
.
.
.

In case of s950 samples it would be shorter of course

IB FTDRK B1
IB FTDRK S1
.
.
.

I also write the complete names down in a book or excel.
