If you can afford it the tube neumann mic...
Otherwise get a tube that allows you to change the tube inside so you can change the sound...
and a polar pattern of 3 or 4 so you can switch betwwen omni, bi, etc.
Look for one that also is cloned if you want it cheap/ They sound like copies of high qaulity mics...
but each persons voice is indepent to each mic meaning you could have a very nice neuman U-47 mic....and listen to my vocals and my freq range does not compliment the sound of the U-47 so then you get a 200 dollar clone and it fits that persons range perfect,,,
Be able to know what kind of vocal applications you want...
And ask to try out mics at a local store to see if you really wqanna buy it if not read the freq response curve on each mic..
Then do a test of where your main spike in voice lies in a freq meter like spectra foo...
That will help find the exact sweet spot..
Its kind of like acoustic testing mics...
Alot of varibles can effect your freq in your voice on each mic so get an average on a couple of mics...
