i bought my old mpc2k classic new and had the same problem w/double triggering. you have to learn how to hit the pads right. i bought my current mpc4k new, and it does the same thing. if you don't hit the pad w/some conviction right in the middle... then you will run into problems w/double triggering. i don't mean you have to be heavy handed and bash pads. everytime you hit a pad, you have to mean it. if your touch is too soft, you will have problems w/the sound just not triggering, or double triggering.

Ha ha ha, seen the viking's helmets before, so funny, small world. Could have been sensitivity issue, was striking in the middle. Have to say, of the mpc's, the 4000's pads felt the best.

konc3pt was getting the double trigger too, I assume he knows how to hit em.

All of the above is true you have to hit the pads in the center. We all had to adjust at first coming from 2xl myself, 3k and so on. I even have the mpd24 which has a solid one hit but the feel isn't the same as a mpc so it sits in the box. For rolling, flame, and ghosts notes, you will learn the touch of the pads edges to get what you want. Less than a few days to develop your feel for the pads. And a sidenote is may help to adjust the sensitivity to your playing style, make sure full velocity if off and put the mpc on a inclined surface or stand up as your playing. My two cents.

Yeah man, dont worry about it. I switched over from the 1k to the 4k a month ago. Tons of double triggers at first, but you learn to control it. Its an instrument, and its gonna take some practice to get it to do what you want it to do. Within a week, I was pretty good at getting single hits when I wanted, and rolling with doubles when I wanted.

I had the same thoughts when I first took it out of the box ("someone sold me a piece of sh**"), but I was wrong. As you get used to it, you will appreciate the pad versatility. Remember, this is a feature, not a burden.

Okay, everyone says the double triggers aren't an issue, answer me this question then - will your pad not double trigger if you hit it, but will double trigger if you're holding down the pad below it? Like double trigger almost every single time, but not double trigger when the pad below is released?

Not here. hitting or holding other pads has no effect at all. It's all on how you strike that individual pad.

If you can't get it to not double trigger you might try getting new sensors. Another thing is if those viking screws are too loose or tight it may have an effect. Not sure because the 4k does double trigger if you don't hit it right but those are things to try.

No, they just hold the top panel face against the pads. They don't actually screw into the pads or sensors.

sorry to say it but I unloaded that 4000 on ebay over the weekend and shipped it out yesterday. I tightened up the screws around the pads, put it on flat surface and was not getting double trigger any longer. when you was checking out the mpc and came across the double trigger issue gotta say it freaked me out a bit.

because I didnt notice it before, at the same time I never hit the pads in the manner you did that day. at that time I was reproducing your way of hitting the pads to get to the root the problem. in my normal use this issue never occured before, or maybe I didnt notice it. however Im still interested in that komplete suite if you want to sell it.
