V ratio and Quantize Note Shift

Couple of Q's:

What the heck is Velocity ratio? Read the manual and they just mater of factly said V% controls velocity ratio, without explaining what velocity ratio is. So what is it?

In my manual rev. o1 it says that quantize will move the note to the nearest division, but in my os, the latest, I have to choose... whats it called, earlier or later. It seems if a note is off, it will slide either to the earlier or later division. Am I correct in thinking this?

Is there any way to override this later earlier behavior? I'd like the note to go to the nearest division.

I believe velocity % is the pad sensitivity. Could be wrong though!

As for the quantize, the nearest division is in relation to your TC setting. I really don't understand what you are trying to over-ride. Just leave it at 0 and it will play right on the beat, depending on your swing setting as well. Just try to make it feel natural. If you can't get the groove you want by messing with the quantize features, just turn quantize off, and play the notes manually to get the exact feel you want. Some times you have to do that. Or you can go to mode+seq edit/pad 13 and go to MOVE at the top left. Tap the key or pad of the note you want to shift and move it from 001.01.00 to 001.01.01. This will give you a slightly later hit on the note. Just remember to set you number of bars back to what you had it at. The are tons of settings you can use in the seq edit screen to move notes around that's hard to explain online, but if you get to know the machine you'll understand what I mean!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the quant on the latest os doesn't move the note to the closest division, it moves it to the one behind or the one in front, depending on the move setting on the quant tab.

For example you quantize to 1/8ths, you have the move setting to earlier. You hit the pad a tic before the 1/2. Rather than moving the note to the nearest division, the 1/2, I think the note gets moved to the nearest division before, the 3/8.

I don't believe the original os was like this, I think it would have moved the note to the 1/2.

I'm gonna test this out tonight, we'll see.
