okay before all of you start bashing on me, just wanted to say that what you guys do is sick. Before this I had a MKII Technics turntable, with a rane mixer set up. I would just spin vinyl and with speakers. but I see alot of these mpc 500 or mpc 1000, and im trying to figure out which one suits me, I have a computer with windows xp, no programs. I was also wondering when you guys say the 500 is portable, and can take it anywhere, meaning you dont need a computer to use it?, what is the best way to start up and what equipment will I need? I want to start learning how to do this and grow with it in skill

500 runs on batteries -- that's why it's described as portable. both 500 and 1000 are stand alone units that don't require a computer.
