MPC5000 reviews, bug reports and fellow user support on the most recent standalone, hardware MPC from Akai

Hi people. I'm a newbie here, so first I wanna thank you all for the huge amount of informations shared here on this forum.

Now, my first question: what does exactly mean "Q-LINK: Added Global Q-Link Mode. Press[SHIFT] to toggle global Qlink mode"? I've found that in "AKAI MPC5000 SOFTWARE RELEASE NOTES".

So, basically, what is this "Global Q-Link Mode"? How does it work? Is there any doc?

I also asked this around here, it seems AKAI advertises with new functionality which is not even existing/working.

Ok, I've contacted AKAI, on the support page of akaipro.com, asking explanation about this feature.
Look at the first informatory reply: Alesis?!?!?!
Anyway, interestingly enough there is also a technical support telephone number. If only I could speak english fluently I would call. Anyone can make a try?

My workaround is to record everything into the same track and work on a pad basis (mute etc), not on a track basis. Perhaps this helps you too.

I also found this workaround, but what you want to mute a complete rhytm track (with a lot of percussion sounds) then it gets quite difficult.

AKAI should just program what they advertise...

Maybe Akai support does not answer because they don't know either?

This goes well with the rumour the 5000 has been dropped. Can we get more info about the situation?

Unbelieveble bad akai support for a machine of this price, I mean, you shell out almost 2000 euro's for a machine with bugs and you can not get any information/support...and it's bugged software doesn't get updated for almost a year.

I guess the only reason MPC's are still used is because it's mainly used by hiphoppers who only need 10% of what this machine is supposed to do , otherwise they would not sell any of these machines

I think your stuck on the word "global." Load up OS 1 and take a look at Q-link mode. Next load OS 2 and do the same. I believe you will understand. The OS 2 manual has all the information you need about how to use the Q-links.
