Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Just recieved my MCD-KIT (from MPCSTUFF.COM) but it doesn't work!

So here what I've already done:
-checked the cables
-tried other CF-Cards (only 2gb, and the one that came with the MPC 500, all FAT16)
-New OS 1.2
-checked the jumper, it's set to master

The green LED flashes up, but no "ATAPI" is showing up in the loading window

What else could I do? and how do I format the CF-Card?

Hope someone can help me cause I'm gettin' kinda pissed off LOOOL :D

That truly does suck since you are in Switzerland. Contact MPC-stuff and let the know. They seem to be a reputable company, they may replace it.

Just got a response from mpcstuff.com:

"Cards need to be 1GB or less San Disk brand not ultra type. The one from the 500 probably would not work."

I'll get some "normal" SandDisk 1GB cards (only have "ultras") and keep you updated :-)

mpcstuff.com - great service!

So... here I am again...

I'm looking for SanDisk 1GB Type 1 CF-Cards and can't find em... so my second question is:
Does anyone know which other cards work? I know there was a thread somewhere but I can't find it!

I know there are a lot of these card-reader-problem-threads and I've spend my last weeks with reading them.. but since I live in Switzerland and it's hard to find 1GB Sandisk Type 1 CF-cards I'll keep asking :-)

Here comes my next question...
Does anyone know If these cards work with the cardreader from mpcstuff?

A guy is selling them on ebay and he claims that these will work for Type 1 and 2 so even older cameras can read them (I guess the MPC can too?)

happyhour wrote:Just out of curiosity have you tried formatting the cards on your PC first? Have you tried smaller cards? I don't have the mpc-stuff reader but after trying some 1 gb recommended cards that didn't work I found some Ridata 256mb cards that all worked fine.

Actually I didn't format them yet because I saw it is already FAT-formatted...

Or is there a "special formatting process"? How can I format them?

I'm gettin' crazy here.. no more floppys, a cf drive with a bunch of cards that don't work and a lot of records that just wait to get chopped..
