stereo mono probs 2000 classic

tryin to record the 2000 classic via maudio fast track pro to daw. My sounds are coming out only on one side. I have used these drum samples before and they have recorded w sound coming thru both sides. I checked the mixer screen and everything seems fine the pan is in the middle, I plugged headphones into the 8 out and the sound is only coming thru the left side, Is there a screen or menu ive overlooked? cannot figure this out been fighting w it for days. The mpc plays thru both sides when your listening thru the audio reciever I have it hooked to(stereo Outs) but when I record to daw thru 8outs its giving out one side. Could the 8 outs be broken?? Help Me Out!!

Unlike the "head"phones out, the 8 assignable outputs, record inputs and stereo outs doesn't put out (take in in the record inputs case) stereo, it puts out one channel per jack.

in the picture below there are two jacks, the top one is stereo, the bottom is mono.
the 8 assignable outputs use the bottom jack as it only puts out one channel.


Looking at the M Audio Fast Track Pro I only see two ins and two inserts so I don't think you can process 8 individual channels at the same time, but there's ways around that:
If you have your MPC and DAW synced via MIDI you can record up to two individual tracks at a time or one stereo track. Just make sure you assign your ins on your DAW as mono when recording individual tracks. After you record 1 & 2 or your first stereo track, overdub the next tracks.

Thanks for that I am just tryin to work out why my daw is only picking up sound on the left side, I have recorded many songs w the same setup, I moved recently, set up equip the same way and now my daw picks up only on one side, also the signal is sometimes distorted or flucuates and the gain knob has to be turned all the way up to register, before it was barely on at all. I am tryin to work out if the prob is in mpc or audio interface

To me it sounds like you need to reconfigure your DAW and/or your audio interface.
First you'll have to set your channel inputs to mono or Left if recording from individual outs from the MPC.
As far as the gain and level fluctuations, I would have to know more but I would bet it's your audio interface or possibly the DAW, your MPC is probably set up correctly.

thx for the help, after a week of fighting w this prob ,audio interface connections were bad, finnaly had to have the input lines plugged into interface plugged in halfway and tweaked for a bit to record, 3mo old audio interface and already broken good thing for warranty at guitar cntr..
