Once you set up the 5k's mixer for adat out, 1-8 is there any way you can set the mixer to always default to these settings for all program's? setting up the mixer for each new program you load is a bit of a pain..
Any idea's on this?

Get a 4k

It can't be done because the 5k does not have multi's or save mixer settings other than saving the whole project. This can be done on the 4k though.

With only 8 outputs I don't think it's so bad. You have to make two or more dumps to DAW anyway so you will have to reconfigure once or twice for a typical song. I wish it had at least 18 outputs.

Hope Akai can remedy this soon like in OS 3.0

My workaround will be this - since I love the way Motu BPM sounds - I'll basically use the 5k as a midi controller and sequencer for vsti's - I'll setup an analog out for stereo - main outs for just either bouncing down the 5k's synths or samples.. this will work temporarily I guess. I think if Akai CLAIMS the 5k is their flagship, then it should be able to at least do the basic functions of the 4k, am I wrong?

hi!
for those of you new to digital transfer:
IMPORTANT: Since MPC5k only has adat out, you need to set MPC5k as sample clock master in your digital mixer or sound card. otherwise you'll get all kinds of sound probs, caused by sample clocks out of sync. As mentioned before here at mpc-forum. MPC5k only uses 44kHz.

Even on the 4k that saves the output assign for multis, you usually have to reassign the outs for different songs. Each song can have a different set up. You may have your kick drum on track 8 bank b and somewhere else later. Unless you use the same program setup for every song there there is no way around it. Only takes about 20 seconds to setup before tracking out anyway. Just use the stereo out until you are ready to track out to your DAW.

The Plan was to go through the Adat as soon as a Track comes together to be able and mix it through those.

Dunno perhaps Ill have to look into it further when I get a chance

I still think the 5k should have multis for other reasons.

I think the best way to work with adat out is to set up a template in your DAW with the adat inputs from the MPC labeled. You can name the adat inputs to MPC 1-8 and have an input set up for the MPC stereo too. If you always want your kick on adat 8 you can even name it MPC kick etc. Also set up tracks armed with these inputs and labeled so you are ready to rock on the DAW side.

Once you have a template with the routing in your DAW, just go to the MPC mixer and assign your pads to the outs. Should not take long to do this once you have your basic track sequenced. If you follow the same assignments like always have the snare on out 1&2, Kick on 8, sub on 7 etc. you will be able to do the assignments quick.
