need help about song to sample

i have jjos2 on a mpc 1000. i'm trying to convert a song into a sample (wav). when i'm listening to the song with the main outs of the mpc, with the onboard master effects compressor and eq on, everything's fine. but when i convert it to a sample i got digital distortion, clipping on the resulting sample.

do you have any idea why it is doing something like that?

What do you mean by converting? Are you sampling from you INS in the record mode? distortion results from the sound being too loud, either on the MPC.. if thats the case just trun the rec gain down or in the mixer or whatever you are using to send the signal to the machine...

I think the levels are kinda strange in the mpc, at least i dont know where the 0db max is. When the global volume is set to 0 it´s quite easy to make the machine clip internally. In your case, is your compressor off when you are resampling? Maybe it prevented the clips.
I didnt check the problem thoroughly, i just adjust the global volume to -6, no more clips.

i'm trying to record the song in a wav file from the song menu. there is nothing to adjust the level of the recording and this clipping occurred when the compressor and eq were on. i tried it without them after and everything is fine (no clipping) but i don't have the benefits of the compressor and eq. i would've like to do it all in the mpc. but i worked it out by loading the wav file in cubase and master it from there.

it's kind of odd that it doesn't work in the mpc, even more when the outs don't clip when playing in it back!!??

I used to always get distortion when I had the Global Volume at 0db.
Pretty much everything is set to -12db for me nowadays, but unfortunately always have to amplify thru DAW. Depending on my mix levels, I can get away with -6db, but that's it.

Just thought I'd share my 2cents.

Lower the gain in the compressor maybe its to high.
