copying events from one pad to another

Sorry if this has been answered before, I tried a few searches but kept getting lost. I'm relatively new to the MPC1000, using v3.08, and I simply want to copy all of the hits from one pad to another. I've messed around in Grid Edit for some time now but haven't been able to do it.

Example: I tapped in a hi-hat rhythm on pad C8 and saved the sequence. Now a few days later, I loaded the sequence and want to move those hits on C8 to A16 instead -- and I want to keep the velocity data.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Yes, you can do it in Step Edit

1. Hit MODE - STEP EDIT; Change VIEW to Notes;
2. Select the pad you want to change, then only the pad eventes for the selected pad will show in this case is C8.
3. Put your cursor on the Field P:C08 and turn the data wheel until you get the pad you want, in this case is A16.
4. Repeat Step 3. until all the the notes are corrected.

This alows you to change the pad with no effect on the velocity or duration, plus it alow to fine tunne both parameters.

If you have many notes it may take some time but it works... in JJ OS FREE i think this is the only way to do it, in the paid OS i think there is a faster option...

There is actual a MUCH faster way, in all 1000/2500 OS's.

Go into Sequence Edit, and use the transpose function. You're welcome.

Damn i sleeped on the transpose function, much faster!

but what if you wanted to copy event data to another pad AND keep the event data for the original pad?

In other words copy the event data while maintaining the original data... like you wanted to layer an extra sound mimicking the original pattern data.

Transpose will only move the data to a new note without keeping the original data in place

Make a COPY of the track first. Then go to the copy of the track and do the transpose. Now you have the original track and the copied track you transposed.

Click MAIN, highlight the track number, click WINDOW, click F5 for COPY Track
