i use a virus kb
and do these modules send sys. ex. messages all in one line (linear) or in a list,
the kb sends sys.ex - what i understand in a list! they're displayed in seq edit on the 4k! but what it sends depends on what i dump from the virus (single, multi, buffer, arrangement ...)
just checked - usually i dump arrangement - which contains 17 sysex rows - streams (dunno in english). i guess it are the 16 single programs (patches) + 1 multi pgm. they are all recorded at slightly different time ... so in a list
because I noticed the triton sends it all on one line, while my roland xv-5050 sends it like a list each line at slightly different time locations, I think the linear approach that korg uses is the problem, but what I can't understand is why does everything work fine until I save the sys. ex. sequence and then reload it, and that's when I get the " midi buffer full " message from the triton.
... are you saying that its workin fine on the roland? whilst the problems is only on the korg? ...from what i understand from your explanation the 5050 dumps similar as the virus does here ...
what i would do is
1. check all midi options on the korg ... and see what is there ... imo your problem sounds as if it was a korg-midi-problem ... maybe just one setting ... (.. dunno, maybe you must just enable the korg to receive/send dumps ... or dump them the correct way)
2. disconnect unnedded midcables when dumping - so when dumping from korg to mpc dump mpc to korg cable - whilst when sending data to the korg disconnect the one goin back from the korg to the mpc
3. slow tempo when dumping
4 set loop off on the 4k both times when dumping and sending the data
5. dunno whether this is relevant ... but when overdubbing-dumping and you have a count in on the 4k ... wait til the sequence is running - save is saver ...
6. same here dunno whether relevant - set synch off (midiclock,...) when dumping ...
can't think of anything elxe ...
good luck
