ok... so i'm well aware that the mo phatt is the upgraded version of the planet phatt module... and that the planet phatt has 8mb where the mo phatt is 32mb... but my question is this...

does the mo phatt contain ALL of the same exact sounds from planet phatt within those 32mb or are there any missing? i only ask because i've seen people that have both and was wondering if aside from the planet phatt having more outputs why anyone would need both?

i searched the hell out of this and couldn't find a definitive answer... so does the planet phatt have any sounds that aren't included on the mo phatt? thanks to anyone who can clear this up...

Its the same machine, the mophat is just the rack version of the planet phatt, like having a triton keyboard compared to a triton rack. Sounds are the same on both machines and the rack has 1 an etra slot for ecpansion not sure how many the planet phat has

^ That didn't really answer shit. Both of them come in rack forms, the planet phatt and mo phatt. He just wants to know if the mo phatt has all the planet phatt sounds.

Yeah. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Ha ha.

But I would think that it would have all of the sounds from the Planet Phatt, but I've never used one.

i'm pretty much in the same boat as you, triple-x... i have the mophatt and have never used a planet phatt... that's why i was wondering if anyone here had both and could answer this. i know for certain that the mo phatt contains the pure phatt rom... but i'm just thinking the planet phatt may have a few sounds of it's own up it's sleeve.

umm... lemme think..

I think there are sites on the web.. maybe vintage synth .com or someplace similar that might actually list the sounds from each unit. and so on.

try that and see what you come up wit

just did a quick search
http://www.vintagesynth.com/emu/phatt.php
http://www.vintagesynth.com/emu/mophatt.php

specs are on the right.

maybe the manuals have a patch list you could compare?

i did a quick scan of both manuals... the planet phatt uses rather generic names for the presets, so it's hard to tell... i did a search in the mo phatt's manual for a few of the preset names and came up blank... there's no way of confirming by the preset names here. i'm beginning to think they're definitely different units as far as the built-in presets go...

They are different , have different sounds and synth engine. Mo phatt has the proteus 2000 engine and the Planet has the Proteus original, the Mo is more in depth and sure, get them all they all have something to offer..

I personally would add roms XL , Beat Garden , Ensoniq Urban Dance ect..to your mo phatt and that would give you a much wider pallette of sounds. If you find the Planet dirt cheap , pick it up... Otherwise roms are the way to go as you can fit up to 4 in your mo phatt that will give you 128mb of sounds..

MPZ60... thanks for answering... that was pretty much what i needed to know. i agree with the part about adding expansion roms to the mo phatt, but unfortunately every time i see any e-mu roms they cost more than what i paid for the mo phatt itself... so until i find some on the cheap, i'm gonna have to settle for the pure phatt rom for now.
